Even one of the most powerful female musicians, Taylor Swift, is helpless against the metaphysical might of a necklace. Instead of secret album tracklists or hidden messages, Swifties are now fixated on a concept that centers around a single, unwary charm—the infamous "T" necklace.
When the music sensation wore a "T" charm to the Grammy Awards, many fans saw it as a reference to her boyfriend, Travis Kelce.
She is known for incorporating "easter eggs" and hidden meanings into her appearances.
However, the craze grew when she wore the same piece of jewelry at the Super Bowl. Soon, Swift's devout followers pointed out the uncanny connection between these two events.
The disappointing outcome of both evenings led fans to doubt whether the necklace symbolized a sign of love or brought unfortunate luck.
Hence, the necklace became the subject of media speculation about its role in Swift's Grammy losses as well as the Chiefs' Super Bowl defeat.
Social media goes nuts over Taylor Swift’s “T” chain
One fan wrote:
"It’s the damn ‘T’ necklace. She had it at the Grammys and got snubbed, then wore it again and her team lost. Taylor, please buy another one and let that one go."
In order to prevent further harm, some fans are even recommending that the artist retire the jewelry.
A user pleaded pleaded:
"Taylor Swift, take that T necklace OFF, it’s a curse."
A user posted:
"Convinced the t chain is cursed because Taylor won 0 Grammys wearing it and now Travis is about to lose the superbowl. Taylor if you know what’s good for you, you’ll take it off NOW."
Yet another user mentioned:
"taylor wore it to the grammys and lost. taylor wore it to the super bowl and the chiefs lost. TAYLOR the T is a bad luck charm."
A post read:
"taylor’s T necklace is a curse like first no grammys and now this game."
Taylor Swift's "T" chain
Swift made her "T" chain debut at the 2025 Grammy Awards, wearing a red minidress designed by Vivienne Westwood. Designed by Lorraine Schwartz, the necklace has a T-shaped motif studded with rubies.
Swift unveiled her ensemble, including the meaningful "T" necklace, just prior to the start of Super Bowl LIX. She seemed to turn the Lorraine Schwartz leg chain she wore to the 2025 Grammy Awards into a necklace around her neck twice in a choker fashion.
Prior to last week's red carpet, Swift and the jewelry designer collaborated on the creation.
Swift draped the item around her upper thigh during the Grammys, maybe alluding to the song "Guilty as Sin?" from her album The Tortured Poets Department.
She accessorized it with a white jacket, tank top, and denim shorts for the Super Bowl.
Taylor Swift's possible easter eggs
There is also a lyrical similarity here, as anyone familiar with Swiftie mythology would know.
In the song "Call It What You Want" from Reputation, Swift sings:
"I want to wear his initial on a chain 'round my neck / Chain 'round my neck / Not because he owns me / But 'cause he really knows me".
Throughout the 2024–2025 NFL season, Swift has been spotted wearing both a red heart earring for the Chiefs and a diamond pendant bearing the number "87," representing Kelce's jersey.
During the 2024 Super Bowl ceremony, she adorned her Jacquie Aiche "T" pavé diamond hoop, which probably represents the initials of both "Travis" and "Taylor."
And while we’re not saying she should smudge some sage over that ‘T’ necklace before her next major event… We’re also not not saying it.
