After the crazy NBA trade news that rocked the world, Kendrick Perkins stole the spotlight because of what he said while doing his guesting at ESPN's NBA Today. During his guesting, the formidable defender claimed that he was the "true" leader of the Oklahoma City Thunder, NOT Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook, or James Harden! (via X/@TheDunkCentral)

The ROFL reactions with Perkins' claim

Other NBA fans also trolled Kendrick Perkins, bringing back KD's tweet in 2020 about how many APPG (Average Points Per Game) Kendrick Perkins had during his stint in OKC. (via X/@CelticsAdam34)

Others joked that even if Kendrick Perkins' claim was true, his teammates don't listen to him at all! (via X/@LoswitheMos)

While some fans are reacting hilariously with Kendrick Perkins being the "true leader" of the Oklahoma City Thunder before, other fans are roasting him hard, saying that he's not a true leader at all!

One fan said (via X/@LoganTalksTexas)

"If you have to publicly announce that you were a leader, you probably weren’t a leader."

People also poked fun at Kendrick Perkins' "true leader of OKC" claim, replying with funny memes. (via X/@RicoModernWorld)

OKC fans also joined in the hilarious X thread, saying that even if Perkins was the "leader," his other teammates don't do what he says because, well, he's not better than the OKC's Big 3 during their time. (via X/@DKSportsbook)

Because of @TheDunkCentral's tweet and Kendrick Perkins claim, people are taking time to reread the statement, thinking that what they're reading is from the parody X account, @TheNBACentel.

"Quadruple checked to make sure I wasn’t going blind or dyslexic. This isn’t Centel???? It’s a real quote?" One X user replied (via X/@StackingWs), stating his obvious disbelief.

People also sarcastically believed Kendrick Perkins' statement, saying that the player who has 2 points per game was "surely" leading the team towards countless victories. (via X/@Reemcooks)

And others trolled Kendrick Perkins that maybe he was the true leader of OKC during his time, because they did not win any chips during his stint as an OKC big man. (via X/@DKNetwork)

Was Kendrick Perkins valuable at OKC?

After Kendrick Perkins' claim made waves on X (formerly Twitter), his former OKC teammate, Kevin Durant, replied with sass, saying that what he saw and heard was the

"Craziest sh** I've seen this week."

For OKC fans, maybe Kendrick Perkins was valuable not because of his "true leadership" skills but maybe because he was a great support, especially with his defensive prowess and his intimidating aura on and off the court—making him the best support to the OKC's Big 3 during their time.

Maybe what Kendrick Perkins was trying to say is that he helped the OKC reach the playoffs during his time, but with Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook, and James Harden as the OKC's big 3 during their time, maybe Perkins' statement that he was the "true leader" of OKC before was a bit of a stretch even if he is a great defender.
