Squid Game season 2 just dropped a few days ago, on December 26, 2024, and is already giving everything it promised and more. Netflix blessed us with all seven episodes at once—because honestly, who even has the patience to wait weekly anymore?

The internet is going absolutely wild, fam. From jaw-dropping twists to insane character arcs, X, TikTok, Instagram, and even Facebook feeds are flooded with memes that will have you wheezing. From Gi-hun's "How did I get back here?" face to that ridiculously creepy bread lottery machine, this second season is meme material galore. First things first, an X user said:

A post read: "Got all the money and can’t even give his family any, went back to into the game with a wack plan, still trusting player 001 while watching more people die. Gi hun has to be the dumbest character ever."

Squid Game season 2 plot

Our boy Seong Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae) is back, and he's not here to mess around—or is he? After barely surviving Season 1, you'd think he'd be sipping piña coladas on a remote beach somewhere, but nah. He is, instead, yanked back into the fray of the Squid Games, where new contestants are battling for their lives in challenges that are straight-up nightmare fuel.

It starts with Bread and Lottery, a title so cryptic it practically begs for a Reddit theory thread. From the first minute, you realize that you're playing at a different level. The stakes are higher, alliances messier, and betrayals extra savage. And it's not like Gi-hun can play hero. His attempts to guide the poor souls to safety are more chaotic than ever.

By the finale, the drama goes full-throttle. Let's just say the Front Man (Lee Byung-hun) isn't exactly thrilled with Gi-hun's rebellious streak, and the cliffhanger ending basically says RIP our collective sanity. We won't spoil it, but you'll be screaming at your screen, guaranteed.

Old faves and fresh faces

Some of the iconic players from Season 1 are back, and they're bringing all the feels.

Seong Gi-hun is still our scrappy underdog, but this time, he's juggling survival with some serious emotional baggage. The Front Man continues to be the ultimate mysterious villain, and his mask game is still on point. Player 001, O Yeong-su, makes a shocking comeback, and it's a twist you didn't see coming.

Season 2 also brings a whole cast of new characters to the field. No matter if you support them or judge their every step, they capture all the attention.

What’s next? Season 3 deets

The show creator Hwang Dong-hyuk has teased Season 3, and the show could come out in the summer or fall of 2025. The next chapter assuredly looks into Gi-hun’s mental state as he wrestles with some significant disappointments and a mutiny that wasn’t as successful as he would’ve wanted.
