Avengers: Doomsday, set to release in May 2026 and now officially in production, has already become the most awaited film more than even a year ahead of its release. Marvel has reportedly just sent the hype skyrocketing after its recent livestream hit an all-time record, clocking 275 million views! The video showcased 27 cast member chairs being unveiled, featuring stars like Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, as well as the Thunderbolts and Fantastic Four: First Steps casts, in addition to the original X-Men legends like Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen. However, fans were quick to notice one glaring omission from the cast announcement - Tom Holland as Spider-Man.
Tom Holland has not yet been confirmed to appear in Avengers: Doomsday, as Spider-Man 4 is set to release only two months later. Because of this, Holland is not expected to appear in Doomsday. The news has left fans yearning for Spider-Man's presence in the film, with many still holding out hope and wishing Marvel surprises them with an unexpected appearance by the web-slinger in action.
Hilarious Fan Reactions
Fans were quite amused by Marvel’s logic of not including Spider-Man in Avengers: Doomsday and quickly flooded the internet with hilarious reactions.
One fan (@1broadwaybu) shared on X:
"That doesn’t make sense."
With practically every iconic character returning for the film — even Robert Downey Jr. making a comeback as a villain after Iron Man’s death in Avengers: Endgame — Spider-Man’s absence in Doomsday feels all the more puzzling to the fans.
Another X user (@sporstfan2024) claimed:
"So that means he definitely will be in the movie."
What if Marvel is pulling reverse psychology on us again, like it has so many times before? Spider-Man not being confirmed for Avengers: Doomsday might just be the biggest confirmation yet!
One fan (@Dieggo) shared a video on X with a hilarious caption to capture the sentiment that all the fans might be feeling: gotta watch 'em all!
Looks like Marvel fans are about to feel like kids in a candy store, rushing to watch Spider-Man 4, which is set to release just a few weeks after Avengers: Doomsday.
Another fan (@AnthonyGaenzle) posted on X, wondering:
"How can you have the latest Avengers movie with one of the only remaining Avengers anyone still cares about?"
Quite the popular question - how can you have the latest Avengers movie without one of the only remaining Avengers that anyone still cares about? Maybe there’s time, Marvel. Bring Spider-Man on board too!
one user (@erectsounds) on X quipped,
"My goat Spidey bigger than the Avengers"
Spider-Man might just be bigger than all of the Avengers, as this fan suggests, considering he’s always been Marvel’s most popular superhero. Maybe that’s why he’s getting a standalone film instead of being with everyone else in Doomsday.
Tom Holland not being reported as part of Avengers: Doomsday may have left fans disappointed, but there’s still hope. Because if you know the Russo brothers, you know they always have something up their sleeves that might just end up surprising us!
