Tate McRae's Lollapalooza performance recently came into the news for her Lollapalooza performance in Argentina. She delivered a performance for the ages on the stage as fans went mad in the crowd. Later, she shared the post on social media, which instantly went viral and brought about a wave of hilarity on X.
Fans react hilariously as Tate McRae shares a photo of Lollapalooza Argentina crowd
Lollapalooza is a highly anticipated event in Argentina that attracts artists from all over the world. In some respects, it is THE marquee event, a musical extravaganza that few other events can hope to match. So when Tate McRae shared the image of the Lollapalooza crowd on social media, it was frankly surreal to see.
But the internet is a mean place whose universal language is mockery. Instead of celebrating Tate Mcrae's monumental achievement, fans couldn’t resist poking fun at the absurdity of it all. Social media was flush with reactions ridiculing the You Broke Me First-famed star:
"South america really does show up for anyone………………………" joked one fan (via @dxckiii/X)
"No artist is flopping in south america, they make everyone feel legendary," quipped another (via @Madisonxheights/X)
Fans came up with all sorts of theories and credited everyone for the overwhelming reaction—from fans' hospitality to the use of CGI and even bribes. They credited everything under the sun except for Tate McRae! She may have conquered the Pampas, sure, but not the wild place that is the internet.
Some fans even questioned the authenticity of the claim, as they argued that the crowd was simply bored out of their minds and needed someone to entertain them while Lionel Messi was out of town, while others complimented the crowd and compared the atmosphere to the frenzied scenes of the World Cup:
"Argentina will give you a World Cup final atmosphere for literally anyone," joked one fan (via @dreamyycici/X)
"They don't have much to do if soccer isn't on..." commented another (via @clickthatfollow/X)
As soon as Tate McRae shared the snapshot on her socials, fans immediately launched a full-scale investigation into the matter as they began zooming in and counting heads like bouncers outside an all-VIP club. Another fan (@zelaspo) compared the scenes at the Pampas with a teki bag, which had the netizens in splits:
"They look like the crumbs in the bottom of the taki bag"
Another fan screamed that Shawn Mendes was the main attraction and Tate just swooped in to steal his moment, the anger in his voice evident even as the rest of us laughed:
"That was for SHAWNNNN," remarked the fan (via @iixseraphim/X)
Even if Shawn Mendes was the main attraction of the Lollapalooza, this doesn't take anything away from Tate McRae. Even being invited to perform at the cultural extravaganza is an honor in itself! It was not all doom and gloom for the Tate McRae stans as one fan came in to play a blinder and save the day:
"Lollapalooza? More like Tateapalooza," exclaimed the fan (via @horejsiii/X)
At the end of the day, this is what the event will be known for: Tateapalooza!
When Tate McRae shared the post, she probably didn't have the slightest inkling that fans would turn it into a comedy roast of absurd proportions. She should've Run for the hills, just like one of her songs tells us to do! In hindsight, she shouldn't have done that. But who can blame her? Blame the fans for turning an event that was supposed to be a flex into a mockery session!
