Fans' hilarious comment at Smallville sequel series' postponement

A lot of fans are waiting for the sequel series to happen but knowing the big production outfits, it's not shocking that they will shelf the project because according to fans, it was not on the production companies' table to begin with.

"As someone who loves Smallville, I didn’t even think it was on the table to begin with." - a fan said (via X/@TeejayMcFly)

Other fans are of course, disappointed because Smallville has a lot of loyal fans and they will do anything just for it to have a sequel series, so it's not on them, it's on Warner Bros., TBH. (via X/@Dr_wraith)

Some fans poked fun at Warner Bros., joking that there are many Batman in the DC universe but multiple Superman are...too much? It seems like it in WB's eyes. (via X/@BroknDeity)

Some fans also seemed okay that Smallville will not have a sequel series because according to them, what will be Clark Kent's continuation, especially after the finale of its last season?

"Given that Clark Kent lost his powers in that continuity, what would the sequel series even be about?" - another fan asked (via X/@thec0med1an)

X users also joked that now that the series is not returning to our TV screens, it seems like Lex Luthor finally won over Clark Kent!

"Smallville sequel is off the table.....Sounds like Lex Luthor finally won!" - an X user commented (via X/@Asapteejo)

Other X users also trolled the postponement of the sequel series, saying that it's okay for it to be postponed because you can't beat the original. (via X/@highcloudyuzu)

And finally, X users also roasted the show's sequel series cancellation, stating that it's a good thing it got off the table because sometimes, those spinoffs just feed your nostalgia but the story doesn't add much depth to a superhero's origins.

"Good. We don’t need no more lazy & pointless nostalgia bait spinoffs." - another X user remarked (via X/@Just_Drew13)

Why did the Smallville sequel series get halted?

It seems that the reason the sequel series was not produced is because there will be a Superman reboot that is in the works at Warner Bros. and they can't afford to create another Superman series, especially in their DC universe. Aside from James Gunn's Superman reboot as one of the WB's priorities, the change in WB's regime change is also one of the reasons the sequel series will not push through.

With or without its sequel series, Tom Welling's Superman and the series is forever ingrained in its viewers, making it one of the series that pushed them to dream and to become a hero one day. Who knows, maybe in another year and in a better circumstance, the sequel series will push through and our old favorite characters will return—maybe happily ever after!
