Kendrick Lamar's Not Like Us performance at the arena had Taylor Swift dancing ecstatically in the stands. The cameras captured her enjoying the concert performance as she sang along and danced while delivering an authentic pop-star and hip-hop fan attitude.
Taylor completely shunned her stage persona as the track from Kendrick Lamar filled the Crypto.com Arena. She was full-on bopping, singing, and basically channeling her inner rap goddess.
All of this might have ended well, but not only was she spotted singing the song, but it was the exact "minor" phrase that stole the show. It was a kinda major.
Naturally, the internet didn’t sleep on this as the meme factories immediately went into overdrive.
One X (formerly Twitter) user highlighted:
"She singing with her whole chest too 🤣"
A user hilariously mentioned:
"drake about to file another lawsuit"
Another user added:
"Text from Drake: “delete my number”."
Sharing a GIF, a user mentioned: "Drake rn"
"2024 was a PR disaster for Drake", said another.
A user hilariously mentioned:
"DRAKE WHAT HAPPENED I THOUGHT SHE WAS YO HOMEGIRL 😭😭"
A user declared:
"I would’ve deleted all socials and never spoke to anyone again."
A user went on to say:
"Daaaaaamnnnn Kendrick got TAYLOR SWIFT singing dancing to NLU and screaming A MINOOOOOOOOORRRRR!! Nah Drake knows better not to shade Taylor Swift LMFAO he’s cooked! 😭😭😭😭"
Kendrick Lamar’s winning streak
Kendrick Lamar showed up at the 2025 Grammys like he had a personal vendetta to settle with the whole music industry—and guess what? He won.
No one was really prepared for what happened next, except for maybe Lamar himself, who’s been out here collecting Grammys like they’re Pokémon.
The 2025 Grammys saw Lamar take home:
Record of the Year—because when a song has the entire world quoting its lyrics, it deserves the crown.
Song of the Year and Best Rap Song—because of storytelling, biting commentary, and lyrical finesse.
Best Rap Performance—because of Lamar’s delivery.
Best Music Video—because the visual was a love letter to Compton.
Not Like Us became only the second hip-hop track to ever win Record of the Year, joining the ranks of Childish Gambino’s This Is America from 2018.
Kendrick’s acceptance speeches were a mix of humility and hometown pride, as he dedicated his wins to the West Coast hip-hop scene that raised him.
Context of Not Like Us
Not Like Us dropped in May 2024 and it ran over the charts, let alone break them. Kendrick Lamar unleashed a beast that was somehow both a chart-topping hit and the hottest fuel for his feud with Drake.
It didn’t take long for Not Like Us to get its Grammy glory, securing a spot in the spotlight during Lamar’s 21st total win.
The grand spectacle of the 2025 Grammys
The event was hosted by Trevor Noah for the fifth time. He’s practically a permanent fixture at this point.
The premiere kicked off at 3:30 PM ET before the real action began at 8 PM ET. Billie Eilish was out here doing Billie Eilish things, Shakira was shaking up the stage like only she could, and Charli XCX and Sabrina Carpenter were doing their thing to keep everyone on their toes.
Beyoncé had 11 nominations for her album Cowboy Carter. She was the one everyone was low-key terrified might break the award counter just by showing up.
The competition was stiff, though, with Taylor Swift, Kendrick Lamar, Billie Eilish, and even some fresh faces like Chappell Roan and Sabrina Carpenter making the list.
