Drake and Joe Budden are at it again. The next installment of their almost ten-year-old saga has finally arrived in the shape of a new song, Gimme A Hug, off Drake and PARTYNEXTDOOR's collaborative project $ome $exy $ongs 4 U, which was released just in time for Valentine's Day 2025.

The tea got tea-er as Joe Budden played the song for Melyssa Ford in a video that is now viral. Folks are making funny comments about her reaction and the entire... situation.

One X user reacted to Ford's reaction, stating:

"She wanted to laugh so bad 😂😂"

A user commented:

"Dem eyebrows got stiff as shit she knew better than to laugh 😂😂😂😂"

One user hilariously pointed out:

"Damn, near popped a blood vessel tryna hold that smile back."

A user declared:

"I know she was feeling nice after that 😂😂"
One user joked:"She started questioning her whole relationship 😂"

Another user thinks:

"She’s so happy he said her name"

What went down between Drake and Joe Budden?

This isn't an overnight beef fueled by a bad opinion of X. The beef goes long back in time.

It began back in 2016 when Budden labeled Drake's Views album as "uninspired."

He wasn't shy about it either, declaring:

“You can’t fool a real *****. That music sounds good... Drake, you do not.”

Drake didn't take it lightly. His initial reaction was some social media pettiness as he posted a Snapchat clip that included a lyric from Budden's hit Pump It Up.

But that wasn't the end of it. Weeks later, he released 4 PM in Calabasas, where he liberally scattered shots at Budden's ex, Tahiry.

That was the stimulus for Budden to completely go into battle mode, answering back with Making A Murderer Pt. 1, a diss record in which he effectively cautioned him that "when you sub real MCs, you get murdered".

Thereafter, the feud would die down and then reignite.

In 2019, Drake teased his notorious pool party on Instagram Live.

Then, in 2023, Budden reignited the flame by criticizing For All the Dogs, accusing Drake of “rapping for the kids” and effectively stating his music had lost depth. Drake clapped back by labeling Budden a "failure" within the rap genre.

And here we are now in 2025, with a reheated beef.

The new installment of the beef with Gimme A Hug

Jump ahead to February 2025, and Drake is once again taking lyrical shots at Budden. Here, it's on Gimme A Hug, where not only does he diss Budden but also drops the name Melyssa Ford, Budden's co-host on his podcast.

The line about Ford was half compliment and half shade—Drake refers to her as a "legend from The 6," which sounds like a respectful nod until you recall what we're talking about.

As for Budden, Drake didn't spare any words, tossing out some expletives that made it painfully obvious the beef was very much alive.

Melyssa Ford: The Accidental Middlewoman

Melyssa Ford, who also has her niche within the entertainment world, likely woke up not expecting to get pulled into this, but here we are.

Having dated Drake in the past, she currently co-hosts The Joe Budden Podcast, so she's squarely in the middle of the lyrical gunfire.

Her response was one of confusion and diplomacy:

“I’m just still processing... I do not know what he is trying to do”.

Her appearance on Budden's podcast only makes the situation more complicated. She has her own platform (Hot & Bothered) where she talks about everything from wellness to relationships, but now she's inadvertently caught up in hip-hop's pettiest exchange.

Cherry on the top, she put "Legend From The 6 🫦" in her Instagram bio.

Joe Budden's reaction

Surprisingly, he's not giving Drake the reaction that he most likely anticipated. While he did acknowledge Ford's name-drop, he didn't appear too bothered by it.

He almost dismissed it, stating that the lyrics could be interpreted in multiple ways. Rather than going headfirst into another diss record, Budden was more amused than anything.
