Serena Williams recently said that her Crip Walk during Kendrick Lamar's Not Like Us performance at the SuperBowl was not intended to throw shade at Drake. However, given Drake and Serena's rumored dating history, fans are not buying it.

Several questions have been floating amongst fans since Serena's SuperBowl performance with Drake's bête noire, Kendrick. When legendary tennis star recently appeared at Kendrick Lamar's live show at the SuperBowl 2025 and did the Crip Walk, many thought she was trying to criticize Drake through her action.

However, Serena dismissed such a notion in an interview with Time, as reproduced by the verified X account of Pop Base:

"I would never do that. Sadly, someone would think that. Of course, I understand why someone would think that. But no, absolutely not. I have never had any negative feelings towards Drake."

Many fans, however, are not convinced. Read on to find out how social media has reacted to her clarification.

Serena knew exactly where the camera was and what the internet would do with it. So, according to one fan (@TheTeslaHoe), she must be lying.

Not every move has to be a clapback. Sometimes a Crip Walk is just a Crip Walk. @Horejsiii seemed to believe Serne Williams’ claims:

"Y’all stay reaching. She was just vibing"

Serena’s out here minding her business, drinking her green juice, and raising champions. X User @ibeystannin feels that the Internet should move on.

“It’s been two months. Move on ….”

Some fans felt that the incident has been dragging on for no reason, but there are trolls who just won't let go.

On the other hand, fans like @price0fwoke refused to believe Serena Williams’ claim:

“Girl you literally did it during a Drake diss song… you knew exactly what you were doing and what people would think lol”

X user @arianaunext claimed that Serena should have stayed away from the beef.

"Oh girl please, you should’ve stood on business"

Regardless of the speculations, Serena Williams herself has made her stance clear. On a serious note, the incident has proven once again that no matter what celebrities do, the online world will come up with its own fan theories.
