Once a horror buff, Robert Pattinson now finds himself too sensitive for the genre. The man who spent an entire film stuck inside a lighthouse with Willem Dafoe going crazy over seagulls is now too frightened to sit through a horror movie.

During a recent GQ interview with director Bong Joon Ho, Pattinson revealed that, although he used to enjoy dark and disturbing material, he now finds it intolerable. He admitted:

“I used to watch a lot of dark stuff when I was younger and think ‘yeah, this is cool’. And now, I’m too sensitive,” Pattinson said. “It’s strange, you’d think it would go the other way round. As you get older, you become less frightened of these [films]. I can’t watch horror movies anymore.”

However, the internet couldn't resist finding the humor in Pattinson’s revelation. Sure, they kind of believed him… but also, not really. After all, this is Batman we’re talking about.

Some users hilariously referenced Pattinson’s interviews, suggesting that he has a habit of sarcastically lying in interviews just to mess with people. So naturally, skepticism ran wild.

One user jokingly said:

"But he’s Batman…"

Gotham’s criminals just need to start wearing ghost masks.

Another added:

"Well, that escalated quickly 😂🥲"

One minute he’s battling crime, the next minute he’s hiding from The Conjuring.

Adding a 'proof,' a user commented:

"Nice try Robert 😭"

Okay, Watson, case closed.

A user mentioned:

"Bro scares us."

And yet he’s the one scared… interesting.

One user highlighted:

"He’s also said that he loves to lie by the way."

Robert Pattinson could say the sky is blue, and users would still fact-check it.

A user quipped:

"This guy lies more than Bruce Wayne."

So Bruce Wayne is his alter ego?

Is Robert Pattinson scared of horror movies?

Pattinson admitted that his horror fear isn't mild unease—it's outright paranoia. He remembered one especially bad instance when he attempted to get through a horror film in preparation for a meeting with a director who specializes in the genre.

That evening, someone was trying to break into his home, he grabbed two kitchen knives and slept on his sofa—with the knives literally at his throat.

The "intruder" in this case was probably just a squirrel.

Director Bong Joon Ho proposed that Robert Pattinson's sudden fear of horror may be linked to his newfound status as a father.

For the unversed, Pattinson and his partner, Suki Waterhouse, became parents in March 2024. The Batman actor put that theory to rest, however, claiming his horror aversion began even before fatherhood.

The twist of irony: His career is founded on horror

What adds to all of this being even more humorous is that Pattinson has established himself playing lead roles in dark, disturbing movies.

From The Lighthouse (where he gradually loses his mind) to The Devil All the Time (where everybody loses their minds), his filmography roars "disturbing."

He even portrayed the role of a vampire in five films—although Twilight was more sparkle and brood than horror and terror.

And despite his own fear, he's still keeping one toe in the genre.

Pattinson is now connected to a remake of Andrzej Żuławski cult horror classic Possession with Smile director Parker Finn.

Whether he's starring in it or merely producing through his production company, Icki E Arlo Films, is yet to be determined.
