While we are still reeling from the after-effects of the Invincible Season 3 finale, the makers of the show have thrown a spanner in the fans' plans of catching a breather. A new season is already rumored to be released in 2026 and with it, the introduction of the much-anticipated villain, Thragg. He is the ultra-powerful supervillain who is considered the god of Viltrumites, and the anticipation his possible entry has built up is thicker than Omni-Man's mustache!

Fans engage in hilarious discourse about the identity of Thragg in Invincible Season 4

Invincible is the epitome of masterful storytelling and has quickly captured the minds of fans within just a few years, to the point that it has now become a cultural sensation. Fans can't seem to have enough of the show, and their excitement is reaching absurd levels now. Longtime comic book readers of Invincible have been waiting for the longest time to see Thragg's introduction on the show.

So when Robert Kirkman announced that Thragg had already been cast for Invincible Season 4, the news had netizens buzzing more than caffeinated squirrels. Social media erupted with unhinged theories and discussions by fans debating the possible identity of the actor. It was a meme-fest on X as fans rushed to throw in the name of every possible actor under the sun into the ring:

"Imagine if they finally got bryan cranston that would be funny lmao", wondered one fan (vi X / @animationisC00L)
"Everyone has a plan until the YMCA and a solar-powered Freddy Mercury punch you in the face." , quipped a fan (via X / @Long_shankers)
"Steve Carrell doing his Gru voice is my pick", joked another fan (via X / @cipher_freddy)

Invincible fans had a meltdown on X debating who would play the role of the ultra-powerful Viltumite. From Chris Pratt to Henry Cavill to Jason Momoa and even Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson, fans were busy brainstorming wild theories, creating elaborate fan art, and even considering audition tapes from their pets. There was, however, one actor for whom the clamor was the loudest: Jon Bernthal.

"Get him in that booth PLEASE", pleaded one fan (via X / @therealsupes)

Fans were left howling at the thought of Jon Bernthal playing the role of Thragg. Can you imagine the Punisher himself delivering Thragg's lines with that signature growl? The internet would break loose as he would make even the toughest Viltrumites sweat profusely with just a mere glance of his eye. Who knew anticipation could be this entertaining?

While most fans were awfully chuffed at the news, some couldn't help but wonder if this information was supposed to be relayed to them or not. Considering casual fans are still not aware of how big a deal Thragg is, netizens resorted to trolling Robert Kirkman instead and compared him to a toddler who was all giddy up after finishing his homework and couldn't wait to tell his mother:

"Kirk is all too prepared like he’s finished all his college studies and homework in two days", joked one fan (via X / @kasimu_mzamilu)
"Homey we're not even supposed to know about Thragg yet. Keep this s*** out", exclaimed another (via X / @Cineaesthetic1)

While others wondered about the identity of the actors who would play the intimidating villain, one fan in particular (@SolBigdadd64070) seemed resigned to his fate rather hilariously:

"They will probably cast Pedro Pascal"

Considering the sheer volume of work he does nowadays, we wouldn't put it past Pedro to be the one to play Thragg and bring the internet to hit a snag!

As fans were busy cooking up theories about the narrative Invincible Season 4 is about to take, this news hit them like a thunderbolt out of the blue and sparked a frenzied atmosphere on the internet. As the release date looms, the only thing more intense than Thragg's power is the excitement of fans ready to hear who will bring this monstrous character to life!

So a plea to Robert Kirkman and company: cast wisely, or face the wrath of the Viltrumite fandom!
