The 90s gave birth to what might be perhaps the most iconic Christmas movie of all time - Home Alone. This classic family comedy without the family became a pop culture phenomenon, loved by kids around the world.

2) Payphones

The kids today using smartphones will never really understand what it was like using payphones, where one had to insert coins to make a phone call, and the sheer horror of realizing that you had run out of coins.

3) Radio

Way before downloadable/streamable music or even the internet, there was the radio. You had no option but to eagerly wait for your favorite song to play on the radio so that you could hit the record button and listen to it later.

4) Crank windows

With every car company manufacturing & selling cars with power windows, gone are the times when vehicles had only crank windows, and rolling the window up or down would make for a solid arm workout.

5) Tangled music cassettes

Millennials & Gen Xs surely remember the joy & pain of using music cassettes, where on one hand they could record & listen to their favorite songs while on the other hand, the cassettes would unravel out of nowhere and had to be untangled using a pencil.

6) Action packed movies

The 80s & 90s were dominated by action movies featuring lots and lots of gunfire, explosions, and heroes with ripped physiques.

8) Iconic video games

The Nintendo Gameboy was the hottest-selling and first-of-its-kind handheld video game console in the 90s. If you were a kid and didn't own a Gameboy back then, you just weren't considered cool. Super Mario was among the console's most popular games.

9) Cable television

Before the era of streaming / digital content, there was cable television. You had to tune in at the same time every day to watch your favorite shows. You also had to make it in time before the commercial break ended if you didn't want to miss what happens in the story next.

10) Magic pen

Back in the day, the coolest piece of stationery you could have was a pen that could change colors.

11) Road maps

Before there was any GPS, people had to rely on road maps. Then there were people who never carried maps and would just stop to ask for directions.

12) How parents would go to school

Almost every millennial or Gen X has heard stories from their parents or grandparents on how they would have to travel far & wide to get to school.
