Warner Bros. is officially taking the blocky world of Minecraft to the big screen, with the long-awaited film reportedly opening in theaters this April. But this isn't your average pixelated escapade.

The movie is about a group of humans who, due to a strange portal, get pulled from their world and deposited directly into the legendary, cubed world. The comedy movie is based on the game Minecraft.

Look for lots of cringe-worthy crafting, dubious survival skills, and, if the internet gets its way, at least one 10-minute straight shot of someone punching a tree by accident. With Minecraft being one of the top-selling games of all time, it's safe to say this film is going to mine some serious attention.

It turns out A Minecraft Movie will be 1 hour and 41 minutes long - because, apparently, it takes that long to make it through your first night, build a dirt house, and mistakenly stare an Enderman in the face.

Fans joked that if the film is faithful to the game, half the film will be people arguing about who left the door open when skeletons pour in. Let's just hope the credits roll as soon as someone actually discovers diamonds. As soon as the news came out, someone (@stormcabbirds) took to his X account and commented:

"Poor parents have to sit through that"

And truthfully, they may have a point. Picture two tired parents trapped in a theater while their child excitedly tells them why the creeper explosion was really their fault for not laying down enough torches. By the time the credits are over, they'll likely feel as if they've beaten their own 'hardcore mode' - with no respawns.

Not surprisingly, the internet had a field day with the runtime announcement. Some were stoked for close to two hours of blocky fun, and others couldn't help but clown the prospect of watching what amounts to a 101-minute Let's Play video. Here is how fans actually felt about the news.

Netizens have reacted to ‘A Minecraft Movie’ having a 1 hour & 41-minute runtime

Some people simply couldn't help but crack jokes, asserting that the biggest challenge would be not fighting the creepers, but not zoning out like the AFK players for the whole 101 minutes. Nothing screams Minecraft more than spending hours working on something awesome, only for it to be blown to shreds in two seconds:

"That's 1 hour and 41 minutes of pure blocky chaos—just enough time to build a house, lose it to a creeper, and question all your life choices!," a user hilariously commented.
"101 minutes of this," another user sarcastically commented.
"It looks like Jumanji but in Minecraft. That concept is," a netizen expressed.

Others jumped on the news and went wild, memefying the entire thing. Some say that the initial 30 minutes would be just characters punching trees in utter silence, while another said the after-credits sequence would show us the sequel: Minecraft Creative Mode, a three-hour saga of aimless soaring and accidental TNT detonations :

"1 hour and 41 minutes? That’s at least 37 ‘Just one more block’ moments!," a folk commented.
"Enough time to punch a tree, build a mansion, and still forget where you left your bed,"a user hilariously commented.
"i gonna feel bad for the kids parents who have to sit in the theater for almost 2 hours," according to a user.

And then there were the fans who actually complimented the entire endeavor, stating that 1 hour and 41 minutes was the ideal length to encapsulate the essence of Minecraft without being a never-ending mining expedition:

"101 Minutes is not such a bad runtime for a film set in the real world to the Minecraft World." according to a netizen.
"Probably the perfect length for it," a user wrote.

Ultimately, whether folks were hyped, perplexed, or simply busy making memes, one thing's for sure - A Minecraft Movie is already going to be as wild as a server with no regulation.
