In a revelation that’s equal parts hilarious and horrifying, Swamp Izzo recently revealed that Playboi Carti was recording his latest album, MUSIC, right until the moment it was released.
Remember the time when we were all refreshing our screens frantically waiting for the album to drop, and then it didn't? The reason was that at the eleventh hour, Carti decided to add some extra oomph to the album.
Latest revelation about Playboi Carti's MUSIC sends fans into a frenzy
Swamp Izzo recently spilled the beans about Carti's last-minute recording antics. The album was reportedly all set and done and was supposed to drop at midnight. But due to Playboi Carti's last-minute change of mind, MUSIC's release was delayed by another 3 hours as he wanted to add more energy to the tracks.
In his quest for perfection, Playboi Carti ended up recording songs right until the moment the album was released. Fans had been waiting for 5 years for Carti to release his album, yet those final 3 hours somehow felt longer than the entire half-decade of anticipation. Swamp Izzo's revelation only added salt to the wounds.
So when fans caught on to the reason for the delay, they had some hilarious reactions:
"Explains why it sounds unfinished", joked one fan. (via X / @sorawlr)
"This is not the flex he thinks it is", quipped another. (via X / @HisNameIsMagic)
Another fan shared a GIF that perfectly summed up his tardiness:
Swamp Izzo decided to play it cool when he revealed that during the time that the album was delayed, Carti was brainstorming ideas- he was doing interviews and calling people. He mysteriously left out the identity of those people, but one fan was quick to fill in the blanks:
"He was on the phone with Kai tho saying “20 minutes” tho", pointed out the fan. (via X / @joeBURRRRRRRRR)
The trolling didn't stop there. Fans started making light of Carti's infamous procrastination skills, comparing him to a kid who realizes he forgot to do his homework five minutes before class:
"Mf doing his homework last second", joked one fan. (via X / @Rattus47)
"Rappers be treating albums like school projects", added another. (via X / @surfinmars24)
One fan wasn't surprised by his antics in the least and quipped that vampires do their best work at night anyway:
"Yea he’s a vampire what did you expect are we really surprised here"
Despite all the teasing, Playboi Carti's fans still showed up to support him as the album is now on course to become his most successful album ever. Love him or hate him, you can't deny that behind that cheesy exterior and dilly-dallying antics lies one great artistic mind.
With his new album Baby Boi also in the works, let's hope that this was the last time we had to wait for so long before an album release.
