When it comes to hygiene, most people agree that soap and water are non-negotiable. But not Dylan Efron. The Traitors US star recently shared his, uh, refreshing take on showering, and let’s just say, the internet is not on board.

In an interview with NowThis, Zac Efron’s younger brother revealed that he thinks people shower too much. His reasoning? Pools have chlorine, and apparently, that’s good enough. Naturally, Twitter (X, if you insist) had a field day with this revelation, and the memes came pouring in faster than a power shower.

Dylan Efron’s take on showers: The Internet smells trouble

Dylan didn’t just casually mention skipping a rinse, he made a full-blown case against excessive showering.

“I think people shower too much,” he said. “We take way too many showers. I go in the pool a lot, like chlorine it’s killing everything.”

And just in case that wasn’t enough to make you question everything, he added,

“We don’t need to soap our bodies every time we’re in the shower either. That’s way too much.”

This take, of course, went viral almost instantly. Because if there’s one thing the internet loves more than a questionable celebrity opinion, it’s roasting said opinion. Within hours, Twitter was overflowing with memes, reactions, and people deeply concerned about Dylan’s personal hygiene.

The comments came in hot, and let’s just say—they were not showering Dylan Efron with praise. One user simply wrote, “Oh he definitely stinks,” which, given the context, feels more like an observation than an insult.

Another added,

“No boo boo. You need to use soap”

Because sometimes, tough love is necessary.

Some fans took the humorous route, with one person joking,

“Dylan Efron be like ‘you know I like it dirty’”

followed by a crying-laughing emoji.

Another concerned citizen channeled their inner Karen and demanded, “Is anybody worried about their health?!” a fair question, really.

Then there were those who, while intrigued by Dylan’s alternative approach to cleanliness, ultimately had to tap out.

“Oh he lost me. That’ll do it”

One user sighed, capturing the collective disappointment of an entire fanbase.

While Dylan Efron might be onto something about overusing soap (some dermatologists actually advise against scrubbing down too aggressively), the internet has made it clear: chlorine is not a substitute for a proper rinse.

And considering his brother Zac once starred in a movie called Dirty Grandpa, maybe Dylan’s just keeping the family brand alive.

Either way, the memes have spoken. And if nothing else, this saga has reminded us all of one very important life lesson—always, always use soap.

What do you think? Is Dylan Efron making a valid point, or are we adding an extra rinse just for him?
