Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it’s Superman - soaring into theaters in just four months! Directed by James Gunn, the film has DC fans eagerly awaiting the Man of Steel’s new avatar. With DC steadily unveiling character looks, one recent reveal has truly raised eyebrows.
DC just unveiled a new look at María Gabriela de Faría’s character, The Engineer, in Superman. The character appears nothing like the iconic liquid-bodied villain from the comics, leaving fans baffled and hoping that her final look in the movie will be much closer to the source material.
Hilarious Fan Reactions
Fans were left quite amused by the first look at The Engineer in Superman and took to the internet with plenty of hilarious reactions.
"Omg David knocked her out," a fan joked.
Uh-oh, did David Corenswet take his commitment to playing Superman a little too far and accidentally knock out María Gabriela de Faría? Let’s hope that’s not the case, otherwise, someone might not be too eager to return for the sequel!
"Dear God is this a shot from the movie or a behind the scenes," asked another.
The new look at The Engineer has really left fans hoping that it’s just a behind-the-scenes shot and not an actual scene from the movie because right now, she looks nothing like the villain from the comics. It could just as easily be someone casually uploading a photo of themselves lying on the grass!
Busted! (via @ArtCast1008 / X)
Aha! DC may have thought no one would recognize where María Gabriela de Faría’s lying-down pose as The Engineer came from. But this user just busted them - it’s straight out of Peter Griffin from Family Guy!
"She has such a beautiful name, saying it is like casting a spell," a fan pointed.
Why not use the first look as an opportunity to appreciate María Gabriela de Faría’s name, just like this user does? Suggesting that saying her name is like casting a spell, it looks like she may have cast a spell on this user too!
"How many villains our boy gonna be fighting? 😭 " wondered another.
As this fan suggests, how many enemies is Superman going to be fighting? DC has already released multiple first looks at different villains. They really are taking the "Super" in Superman seriously!
Looks like James Gunn is leaving no stone unturned with such an impressive lineup of characters for his upcoming Superman movie. Well, only a few months left until Superman flies into theaters on July 11!
