Is that a lizard? Is that a Komodo dragon? No, it's something much bigger and badder - a dinosaur! And not just one, an entire island full of them! That’s right, Universal Pictures just released the trailer for Jurassic World: Rebirth, set to hit theaters in July 2025, and fans of the franchise can't wait to see their favorite prehistoric creatures back on screen.

However, there was a particular piece of news about the film that left fans surprised.

It was revealed that Jurassic World: Rebirth will feature new mutant-like dinosaur species, whose designs are inspired by the T-Rex, the Rancor (from Star Wars), and the Xenomorph (from Alien). The news was met with mixed reactions on social media, as such creatures have never been seen before in previous Jurassic films.

Hilarious user reactions

Let's take a look at some of the most hilarious reactions that internet users had to the news.

For Pete's sake! (via @shrunkenpants / X)

Looks like this user is already hilariously frustrated with the new mutant-dinosaur species in the movie. Or maybe they're just upset that none of the designs were inspired by their favorite movie character.

Considering that the previous Jurassic World movie wasn’t well received by audiences and loyal fans of the franchise, it seems like the one thing this user wants most in the new film is a coherent plot.

This user has given us a glimpse of what the new mutant-dinosaur species in Jurassic World: Rebirth might look like through this AI-generated image. Now that’s a terrifying monster even scientists wouldn't want to study!

No need for more (via @ZachBowders / X)

Normal dinosaurs were already terrifying, so the filmmakers didn’t need to create a fusion of the scariest movie monsters, as this user points out!

No light sabers? (via @tadashiroll / X)

Well, as this user suggests, if the film features new mutant-dinosaur species, one of which is inspired by a Star Wars character, then it’s only fair that the people visiting the island carry lightsabers. And maybe even have the Force be with them!

Uhhhh awkward! (via @Furious_Stylez6 / X)

It looks like many users have had a "Wait, what?" or "Seriously?" reaction to the new dinosaur species. They probably hoped the filmmakers would stick to the originals.

The introduction of the new dinosaurs has certainly left fans confused about what to expect. And it now looks like they’re even more eager to watch the movie to find out the answer.
