Three months into 2025, we still don’t have a release date for the much-anticipated Skate game that has kept fans discussing and theorizing about its release date for the umpteenth time in a row.

If you thought this was all, you're in for a ride, my friend! Social media (especially the gaming fans) have already gotten into their troll mode after EA just dropped the bombshell that they have already included microtransactions in the game.

This comes at a time when even the release date is under wraps and has gaming fans wondering what makes microtransactions so important and why it has been featured in every new game.

Let's set the scene a bit more vividly, folks. Rewind life to the days when video games weren't exactly so popular. The only microtransactions we ever had were definitely buying little candies, comics, or goodies with whatever little pocket money we had.

Times have changed, though, and in this dynamic world where games, accessories, and even in-game purchases burn a hole in your pocket, EA has come up with microtransactions.

Excited to play the skate game? Well, be prepared because you may find a crater-sized dent in your wallets before the game even drops.

For the uninitiated, microtransactions are small financial transactions to buy various items within a video game, app, or online service. If you have ever played games like PUBG or Call of Duty, you may already know what microtransactions look like. Generally, these financial transactions are used to buy virtual coins (which you further redeem to spawn necessary items like hints, maps, gears, or weapons).

Alternatively, these transactions also enable you to upgrade yourself. Lootboxes, DLCs, and premium features are just some of the many things you get from making an in-game purchase.
