Lil Durk is one of the most influential rappers of his generation, yet somehow, his career is a constant rollercoaster between highs and lows. He has been a Spotify staple for years and just launched his album Deep Thoughts yesterday. News came out today that not a single Lil Durk song is charting on both global and US Spotify. Yes, you heard that right—not one. Zero. Nada. Zilch.
Fans troll Lil Durk for not having a single song on Spotify charts
Lil Durk had a couple of tremendous showings over the past few years, which even culminated in him winning a Grammy for his song All My Life. From once ruling the charts to barely even featuring in them, his fall has been astonishing. The charts have evicted him like a landlord on the 1st of the month, and fans have now noticed. It is ironic, considering that fans not noticing him is what brought him here in the first place.
With no Lil Durk songs making waves on the charts, fans have taken to social media to troll him mercilessly, stating this was a long time coming and was in no way a surprise. Some other rappers got caught in the crossfire as netizens held nothing back:
"LMAOOOO HE WASN'T EVEN A COMPETITON TO BEGIN WITH", trolled one fan (via X / @Kamiye29201)
"No him, Dababy, lil baby, Migos, Future and the rest of these mumble rappers are pretty much done", commented another (via x / @FreakBoi14)
"Mind you he was supposed to be a threat", joked another user (via X / @ariolgrenade69)
One of the striking features of Lil Durk is that he operates like a fast-food chain- if you blink, you will miss your fries. Or, in this case, his songs. He has a habit of dropping gazillions of songs at once, which can sometimes confuse the fans. Anyhow, the internet is not a place that deals with excuses, and they mocked the rapper relentlessly.
Fans came up with all sorts of theories about his barren spell- with some wondering if he had dropped a collection of lullabies instead of songs, while others suggested that he was trying to win a Grammy for Best Background Music instead. Some fans even hilariously credited other artists for Lil Durk's descent down the Spotify charts:
"But how is this possible i thought u we’re streaming all night to block ariana??", joked one fan (via X / @Alannarcissou)
"Ariana ended this mess", claimed another (via X / @horsejsiii)
"Cardi b voodoo is so real", quipped another fan (via X / @Barbzdomain)
It was not a one-way trolling street as amidst the incessant trolling, Durk's fans came out to defend their champion but in the process, provided even absurd theories. While some fans claimed that Lil Durk was simply too busy perfecting his craft to notice that his songs had vanished from the charts, others claimed foul play and waged a war on the Spotify algorithms instead.
Amidst the chaos, a small but vocal group of sympathy trolls emerged, who hilariously offered their services as chart consultants, sending him motivational quotes daily. The fans turned trolling into a full-time job, and one fan came up with another name for the rapper:
"Oh flopdurk", suggested the fan (via X / @YouHateLamar)
Lil Durk seems to have hit a strange dry spell of late but we have a theory: maybe he's just overworked? Dropping a bunch of songs all at once can sometimes take a toll on you. He might not be on Spotify’s radar today, but give it a week, and he'll be back to his usual chart-topping self with another Deluxe album!
