Well, well, well— reports have surfaced that Jake Paul, YouTuber-turned-boxer-turned-professional-provocateur, is set to step into the ring with Canelo Álvarez in May 2025. The Problem Child is apparently gearing up to throw hands with one of the greatest fighters of this generation because why not?

If you can go from Vine star to boxing contender, what’s stopping you from fighting one of the most decorated boxers alive?

This revelation comes from reputable boxing journalist Julius Julianis, cited by Dexerto, who claims that the fight is essentially a done deal. It lands mere hours after reports that Canelo had just signed up to face Terence Crawford, a bout that would undoubtedly be one of the biggest of this era.

However, nothing is officially official yet. But that does not mean the news did not push social media’s chaos button.

One X (formerly Twitter) user has declared:

“There's no way this is real.... if it does happen, it's staged 100%”
Another added: “if canelo doesn't win this fight i'll never watch boxing again.”

Another user shared a meme stating: "Canelo vs Jake Paul is like"

Another user predicted the whole situation hilariously:

"I bet the terms in the contract says Canelo has to be wearing a eye patch at all times in the ring and tie his dominant hand behind his back and Jake Paul will be already up 5 points when he does his entrance walk in the ring. Jake has this fight in the bag GG’s ez money."

A user joked:

"That Tyson "fight" was the last celebrity boxing I'll watch. Avoiding all these like the plague."

A comment read:

"If these 2 fought 10 times, Canelo would win 11 of them, there is no chance Paul wins this."

If boxing had a Mount Rushmore of active legends, Canelo’s face would already be chiseled in. Born in Guadalajara, Mexico, in 1990, he’s been collecting belts like Thanos with Infinity Stones.

With an insane professional record of 62 wins (39 by knockout), 2 losses, and 2 draws, Canelo is the undisputed super middleweight champion and has casually dominated across four different weight classes.

Through victories against Gennady Golovkin, Sergey Kovalev, and Caleb Plant, he has demonstrated his position at the top of the pound-for-pound fighters chart.

The combat style that Canelo displays shows expert precision together with flexible techniques while also demonstrating a steel-like chin.

And with an already scheduled fight against Terence Crawford in September 2025, it’s safe to say that Canelo’s plate is full.

But apparently, there’s still room for dessert, and that dessert might just be a side of Jake Paul.

Meanwhile, Jake Paul is out here defying reality. Born in 1997 in Cleveland, Ohio, Paul started making viral videos, then decided punching people for a living seemed like a fun side quest.

Since his pro debut in 2020, he’s stacked up an 11-1 record, with 7 wins by knockout. His competition consisted of ex-MMA athletes as well as social media personalities such as Ben Askren and Tyron Woodley alongside Anderson Silva.

His latest boxing victory against Mike Tyson in November 2024 marked his transition toward becoming a professional real boxer.

He secured a unanimous victory against one of the most menacing heavyweight fighters ever to step into the ring. Whether you agree or disagree, the man is moving mountains with his actions.
