Justin Wong has recently garnered a lot of attention on the internet again after his viral 2017 meme found its way into Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising as an emote for its latest DLC character. The phenomenon was immediately brought to Wong's attention, and he reacted to the addition.

For context, the hilarious emote was born at EVO 2017, when Justin Wong posed for a picture with popular cosplayer Rose Ma. While the YouTuber made half a heart with his hand, expecting Rose Ma to complete the heart for the picture, the unaware cosplayer ended up throwing a thumbs up for the picture, giving birth to the universal sign for the "friend zone."

This incident led to a lot of harmless trolling for Justin Wong, who revealed that during the 2024 EVO, he was asked to replicate that pose with fans "at least 5,000 times."

To add insult to injury, the makers of Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising have immortalized the moment by including it in the game with its latest DLC addition, a mouse-themed sentient character called Dormouse.

The emote got quite the reaction from the internet, where people hilariously sympathized with the YouTuber, talking about how it is a little sad that this will be his legacy.

"You're never escaping this" said one user
"Being immortalized like this the 2nd time 😭 Justin, you ICON." Added another user on X.

Justin Wong has several accolades to his name, including winning EVO more than anybody else and teaching children valuable life lessons in Mortal Kombat. However, his iconic friendzone moment with Rose Ma at EVO 2017 has been immortalized within Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising.

Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising recently introduced a new Vikala character, a mouse-themed being called Dormouse, with a giant, sentient metal trap. The game's developers cleverly invited popular Twitch streamer Ironmouse to voice the character of Dormouse. However, that was not the end of the pop culture references made within the game.

As part of what is tongue-in-cheek humor, the makers of the game added a feature where the character of Dormouse loves to take a Polaroid with her enemies after defeating them. Incidentally, she likes to throw up half a heart, and while her enemies are free to strike whatever pose they want to, more often than not, they throw up a thumbs up.

While Wong reacted to this addition by saying it was "painful," Twitter had quite the laugh at this emote.
