Dark Mass is an upcoming horror game that is set entirely underwater. Yes, you read that right. The game takes place in the entirely familiar settings of the ocean's depths and promises to take players on a joyride like none other. Developed by Path Games, Dark Mass combines the best of both worlds: it allows users to navigate the shady underwaters while fighting through their own fear of drowning. Although the release date for the game has still not yet been announced, it is going to be a wild ride!

Fans react hilariously as Path Games unveils official trailer of Dark Mass

The developers of Dark Mass recently released the official trailer for the video game which left the fans gasping for breath. Judging from the trailer, Dark Mass isn't your average horror game: every shriek, every movement and every breath you take is going to be amplified underwater which will make you question your life decisions.

As if the ocean wasn't already scary enough, Dark Mass is on a mission to redefine the 'horror-genre' video games. The game isn't for the faint-hearted, yet the fans on social media seemed ready to take up the challenge as they readied their scuba gear:

"This game is going to traumatize a whole generation", joked one fan (via X / @Bovada_Casino)
"As someone who hates being underwater, this game is basically my personal hell. 10/10 would drown in fear", quipped another (via X / @SourDazza)

The game might look terrifying but think of the benefits it provides. Users will now be able to hone their multitasking skills while playing the game: they can be scared of water and whatever is lurking down there simultaneously. Who said horror games are mindless fun? We are about to learn something practical here. While some fans seemed ready to take on the world, others showed restraint:

"Imagine grinding for loot while being chased by deep sea creatures. and here i thought our dungeon bosses were scary", joked one fan (via X / @BattleRiseGame)
"The claustrophobic vibes, the eerie sounds, and not knowing what's lurking in the darkness... nope, nope, nope!", commented another (via X / @BibsTheExplorer)
"This is great for all those people who have fear of deep water and not being able to see what’s below them, totally doesn’t scare me…", shared another fan (via X / @IceBurgZ_YT)

Dark Mass seems like the epitome of absurdity because let's face it: nothing says “fun” like swimming through claustrophobic corridors while something with too many tentacles watches you from the shadows. Amid the meme fest that the trailer brought about, one fan (@itzbronwyn) had a few choice words to say about the gameplay, which sent the internet into stitches:

"I don't think that's how being underwater works lmao, that monster dude ran like normal."
"Everything was fine until the skeleton started running full speed as if it was on land", complained another fan (via X / @AranaJaponesa)

Hey, what's a great trailer without fans complaining over ridiculous things? Developers release trailers, fans criticize them. Developers then release the game, and fans criticize them some more. The circle of life is now complete.

As the internet waited with bated breaths for the makers to drop some updates about the release (which never came by the way), one fan shared his pain with all others that won the hearts of the internet, hand down:

"Can't wait to run this at 44fps with DLSS4 and frame gen on, 8 million blurry edges and screen tearing on my 5090", joked the fan (via X / @StreamElements)

It's about time someone got him the PS5! The upgrade is long overdue...

Dark Mass is about to enter uncharted territories: can you imagine how terrifying the psychological horror game is going to be that has added details thrown in for good measure? It is going to be fascinatingly entertaining watching players stumble their way through the ocean while constantly being on the lookout for the oxygen in their tanks not running out. Our excitement is already through the roof and we can't wait for the game to come out soon enough!
