Oscar Isaac's performance as Moon Knight in the 2022 Disney+ show left audiences hungry for more. The show's blend of psychological drama and supernatural action was appreciated by fans and critics, alike. It's no wonder then that since the show concluded, rumors surrounding Isaac's MCU future have been rampant.
Moon Knight is reportedly returning, as told to Alex Perez of The Cosmic Circus, but look for him nowhere near Avengers movies. He could appear instead in a Midnight Sons movie or Daredevil: Born Again since his character is supposedly bound for New York.
While Perez has established himself with a strong track record for scoops, his stories aren't official Marvel announcements—so be sure to take it with a grain of salt.
While some fans were disappointed about it, others weren't buying it, citing how Marvel has a history of introducing characters only to do nothing with them. Of course, the roasting began.
Some users called out the injustice of She-Hulk taking the spotlight while Moon Knight was being wasted.
The discussion soon became derisive as individuals asked what Marvel's priority was and if this new addition was yet another character who was going to get lost in the MCU abyss.
One user (@yunghayd) sarcastically noted:
"Oscar Isaac officially wasted lets gooooooo."
Another user (@mikethurlformvp) added:
"Yall got she hulk in films but not moon knight who had a show people actually watched a liked. This makes zero sense man."
Sharing the same sentiments, one more user (@prelaw999) said:
"So she hulk someone no one liked is gonna be there but not moon knight a show where it was loved but tons and has a great fan base."
Accompanied by a humorously relatable GIF, a user said:
"This is not okay."
A user (@dequanjames6) poked fun at Marvel Studios, mentioning:
"Marvel introducing new characters and not doing a single thing with them lol."
A user (@MomagicLOL) went on to say:
"What a waste of a great character."
Rumors regarding Moon Knight in Avengers
Rumors suggest that Moon Knight may become one of Earth's Mightiest Heroes in Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars.
Since both movies are within the Multiverse Saga, it would not be surprising at all if Marvel managed to find a way to include him.
A better route, however, might be a Midnight Sons film, as per social media users.
With supernatural heavy hitters such as Blade and Doctor Strange involved, Moon Knight would be right at home. Alex Perez has also indicated that this is a possibility.
Oscar Isaac already reprised his role as Moon Knight for What If...? Season 3, marking his first return to the MCU since his solo show concluded.
Although this iteration exists outside the Sacred Timeline, it still provides an idea of what Moon Knight is capable of—just not in the manner fans were seemingly expecting.
Official announcement for Moon Knight
Moon Knight is officially coming back to the MCU, but not for a second season of his Disney+ show.
Brad Winderbaum, who is the head of Marvel Studios' Television & Streaming, made it clear that although Moon Knight Season 2 isn't on the cards, the character will still be involved in upcoming endeavors. Where and when? That remains a secret.
About Moon Knight
Moon Knight, played by Oscar Isaac, is arguably the most interesting character in the MCU.
The series, based on the Marvel Comics character, centers on a mercenary named Marc Spector who becomes the avatar of the Egyptian moon god Khonshu and his meek persona Steven Grant who is unaware of their existence together in the beginning.
With Spector and Grant’s attempt to solve a mystery tied to ancient Egyptian gods, the series tackles identity, trauma and mythology.
