The Rotten Tomatoes score for the live-action Snow White is in. At the time of publishing, the film has an average rating of 48% from 96 critic reviews, all of which are, well, disappointing to say the least. The score makes it one of the lowest-ranked adaptations in Disney’s history.
In terms of poor reception, it is so far placed just above Pinocchio (27%) and 101 Dalmatians (39%).
Most of the negative criticism is aimed at Gal Gadot’s Evil Queen and what is being seen as an unsatisfactory CGI depiction of the dwarfs. On the other hand, some critics have praised Rachel Zegler’s Snow White.
Nick Schager from The Daily Beast writes:
“No Magic Mirror is needed to identify it as the lamest Mouse House re-do of them all.”
Kristen Lopez from The Film Maven stated:
“Snow White has been so cleansed of anything that would offend, it also lacks anything that would make it memorable.”
David Fear from Rolling Stone says:
“The movie does earn points as a bedtime story, however, because it will definitely put you to sleep.”
Even as the critic reviews begin to pour in, social media users are not far behind either, in expressing their opinions. Given that the movie is scheduled to be released on March 21, 2025, many fans are already preparing for disappointment.
Meanwhile, the Rotten Tomatoes score has only exacerbated the already worse situation for Disney.
Fans are roasting the film in every possible way. At this point, Snow White is so burnt that the box office numbers probably wouldn’t be able to deliver the much-needed respite.
Social media reacts to Snow White's Rotten Tomatoes score
Social media users had a jolly good time dissing Snow White with "Mirror, mirror on the wall" one-liners, giving the line their own rib-tickling spins.
A user (@Steweroid) stated:
"Mirror, mirror on the wall… what went wrong with it all? 🍎💀"
Another user (@carelessrizzler) humorously added:
"'Mirror mirror on the wall, why are there many empty seats in this cinema hall?'"
A user (@BentAsmr) posted:
"Mirror Mirror on the Wall, Who Can Save Snow White ratings fall?"
Yet another (@Bru3eTweets) user said:
"Mirror, mirror on the wall… who’s getting cooked by critics most of all? 💀🍿"
A user (@DreamStarter_1) joked:
"But it got 100% on Rotten Apples 🍎"
Some fans poked fun at Disney, stating that it has essentially made a business of taking wonderful classics and ruining them for fans.
A user (@Rockaa63) roasted Disney stating:
"Disney’s magic trick: Turning beloved classics into box office disasters. Audiences wanted a fairytale, not a lecture."
A user (@_Gar_Mar) went on to say:
"I bought the dip on Disney and even I’m rooting against this movie."
Gal Gadot has ended up catching strays the most, with social media fans and critics alike deeming her casting as the Evil Queen an outright misfire.
A user (@ekozones) mentioned:
"We blame Gal Gadot worst acting."
One more user (@poptruther) went on to say:
"Gal Gadot’s acting in this movie might be her worst acting she’s ever done tbh."
Many users said they had predicted this, responding with melodramatic "shocked" reactions to Snow White's Rotten Tomatoes rating.
Others continued to take a jab at Gal Gadot. Perhaps the most evil thing about her Evil Queen was the casting itself.
A user shared a hilarious reaction pic that said I told you so:
Another user (@harryshouse3) mentioned:
"That’s so embarrassing omg…"
A user (@LilyRose_Sol) poked fun, saying:
"What do you expect? It has Gal Gadot in it."
