For months, Marvel fans have been eagerly waiting to see how Sentry would look in Thunderbolts*. Speculation ran wild. Would he be comic-accurate? Would he have that signature golden glow? Would he even make it to the final cut? Well, the wait is over. Sort of.

The first official look at Sentry has dropped, and in true MCU fashion, it wasn’t through an epic trailer reveal or a slick promo shot. Nope. It came from… a Funko Pop. Apparently, the tiny, big-headed vinyl figures are now the gatekeepers of Marvel’s most anticipated character reveals. Naturally, the internet exploded.

Sentry’s Suit Reveal Sends the Internet Into Chaos

Fans expected their first look at the MCU’s Sentry to be a jaw-dropping moment. Maybe a dark and moody poster. Maybe a high-budget magazine cover. Instead, they got a plastic figurine staring blankly into the abyss. And just like that, Thunderbolts* wasn’t trending for its plot, cast, or action it was trending because of a toy.

But to be fair, Funko Pops has a history of spoiling major movie reveals. This time, it wasn’t a full-blown spoiler, but it was enough to send fans spiraling into an existential crisis over whether Sentry’s suit was golden enough. Because if there’s one thing comic book fans take very seriously, it’s their superheroes’ color schemes.

The memes started rolling in faster than Sentry can vaporize a city (which, if you know his comics, is very fast). Some fans were ecstatic, others were deeply concerned, and some just wanted to be blinded by the sheer golden-ness of it all.

One of the first viral memes (via @Comicbugle) summed up the entire situation perfectly:

“We finally get a proper look at Sentry’s suit in Thunderbolts… thanks to the Funko Pop!”

It was both excitement and disappointment in one sentence. Fans weren’t sure whether to cheer or cry, so they did the next best thing make jokes.

Another meme (via @Nuecents37) took things to a darker place. A clip of a man solemnly saying, “Not a soul on Earth,” perfectly captured the terrifying thought of Sentry going full power in the MCU.

If Marvel stays true to the comics, he could wipe out the Thunderbolts* team before the opening credits finish rolling.

Then came the color controversy. One fan’s reaction (@JoeSaysStuffs) was simple yet passionate:

“He better be GOLDER than that. More GOLDISH? Idk, but I want to be blinded by the Sentry.”

And to really drive the point home, they paired it with a man screaming, “I’m the Golden God!” Some people just want a superhero who shines brighter than the sun, and honestly? Fair enough.

One viral post (via @abstractdingus) read:

“I don’t buy Funkos but… it’s so peak.”

Translation: MCU fans will complain all day about these tiny figures ruining surprises, but the second one looks good? Straight to the checkout.

Of course, no internet reaction would be complete without a dose of disappointment. A clip of a man (via @Uni_Master_Prod) looking unimpressed summed up the feelings of those who expected something grander. Maybe a glowing, god-like Sentry. Maybe just a reveal that wasn’t from a toy. The internet is hard to please.

And then there were those who had no complaints whatsoever. They saw the figure, processed it, and immediately declared,

“Dear god, it’s beautiful.”

Some people (like @Andjustlike450) are just built different.

With Thunderbolts* still months away, this Funko-fueled chaos is just the beginning. The real test will come when Marvel drops an official look at him in action. Will he be golden enough? Will he be powerful enough? Will he actually make it out of this movie alive?

One thing’s for sure: no matter what happens, the memes will be there, ready to capture every reaction, complaint, and moment of pure, unhinged hype.

So, what do you think? Are you in the “It’s perfect” camp or the “Where is my golden god?” group? Either way, we can all agree on one thing: Funko Pops might just be running Hollywood at this point.
