Winter is here folks, as scientists at Colossal Biosciences have successfully resurrected the dire wolves which were thought to have been extinct. This marks the first instance of de-extinction in the annals of history and could have massive ramifications for the future of extinct species as we know it. The dire wolves have been aptly named Romulus, Remus, and Khaleesi.

News of the resurrection of dire wolves sends fans into a frenzy

Elon Musk shared the news with enthusiastic fans on X, with the image showing the dire wolves lounging comfortably on the Iron Throne. These regal creatures look like they just might be the most fearsome rulers that Westeros has ever seen. The news sent fans on social media into a tailspin and the reactions were as wild as the discovery.

The implications of the discovery could be far-reaching. Now that scientists have figured out a way to cheat even extinction, fans have been scrambling with theories on X about the next steps in human invention. What's next? Woolly Mammoth, Dodo, or even Dinosaurs? Each suggestion was more terrifying than the last- as fans swung for the fences:

"Maybe we should bring back some dinosaurs," joked one fan (via X / @btc2ikigai)
"Could we limit ourselves as to ensure we don’t bring back….I don’t know, a pterodactyl or saber tooth tiger!" another fan pleaded caution (via X / @raoulrudolf)

Those suggestions totally make sense - after all, if extinction is not real, then why not go big? Fans certainly understood the assignment very well as there were Jurassic Park references galore. You'd think that after all the movies humans have made on why bringing extinct creatures back to life is a terrible idea, they'd let common sense prevail and not try to bring back, let's say, dinosaurs. Right? Well, some fans weren't so sure of the fact:

"This is how it starts. Did anybody watch jurassic park?" joked one fan (via X / @Sassafrass_84)
"Jurassic Park was meant to be a cautionary tale, not an aspirational goal," another fan chimed in (via X / @Adam_Edn)

The news came out as such a bolt out of the blue that it left the fans shell-shocked. Some couldn't believe their eyes while others marveled at the invention and demanded that the inventors start a 24/7 livestream showing nothing but the wolves.

Others suggested that the guys at Colossal Biosciences might have missed a step in not naming the dire wolves after Game Of Thrones. Especially as the dire wolves are the sigil of the Starks and it was them who popularized the wolves in the first place:

"Why they didnt call them ghost and nymeria?" quipped one fan (via X / @geeo127)

Also, why did they deviate so much from the original source material? We take great offense at one of the dire wolves being named Khaleesi, the Targaryens had nothing to do with wolves! At this point, they might as well have named her Cersei Lannister.

To round it all off, the agonizing wait for GTA 6 goes on...

"Can’t believe we got dire wolves back before GTA 6," remarked one fan (via X / @magills_)

The news of the resurrection of the dire wolves took the internet by storm, and the hype was so intense that even Elon Musk shared his excitement on X. The invention could yet prove to be a remarkable boon for humanity, provided we have learned our lessons and stay away from Dinosaurs and Mammoths!
