Marvel's Daredevil: Born Again brought us a brand-new vigilante—White Tiger, played by the late actor Kamar de los Reyes. Fans were excited to get to see Hector Ayala at last make his live-action debut, given he's been an integral part of Marvel Comics for decades.
With his mystical jade amulets and superhuman powers, he could have been a force to be reckoned with in the MCU.
And then. Marvel did what Marvel does best. They took that excitement, rolled it up into a little ball, and tossed it directly into the nearest garbage can.
White Tiger was hardly on screen before they offed him, leaving fans in shock.
Social media went wild. Some described it as an absolute waste of a wonderful character, others were in disbelief that his first appearance was also his final appearance, and many simply sat there questioning why they even brought him out if they were gonna just do this.
Marvel does appear to have a rule: the more cool a character, the quicker they are axed.

"What a waste of such a good character."
He had a whole legacy in the comics and Marvel said ‘Nah, 30 seconds is enough’.

Oh, sweet summer child… someone needs to sit them down gently.

One user (@CrucifiedJudas) noted:
"Man….they really lived up to the this season is dark hype."
Yes, "dark" as in turning off White Tiger’s storyline before it even started
A user (@Amplifythismic) pointed out:
"Bruh this new look lasted a whole 30 seconds 💀💀💀"
Introduction of White Tiger in Daredevil: Born Again
White Tiger finally appeared in the MCU in Daredevil: Born Again, and for the three wonderful episodes, it was as if Marvel actually had respect for the character.
Adapting from Hector Ayala, the classic White Tiger from comics, he was armed with his traditional jade amulets, which give superhuman strength, agility, and senses.
His introduction had the potential to be a great hero origin story: he attempts to rescue someone being attacked in a subway station, only for one of the attackers to land on the tracks and get squashed by a train.
But as it turns out, the guys he battled were undercover police. So, instead of receiving a medal for bravery, Hector is arrested for murder.
Matt Murdock, utilizing his Daredevil-y senses, discovers Hector is being abused in custody and decides to take on his case.
The trial is a huge scene in the series, with Matt dramatically exposing Hector's secret identity as White Tiger to exonerate him.
Hector is acquitted and off he goes!
The instant he returns to his vigilante ways, he is ambushed and immediately gunned down by a mysterious assassin in a bulletproof vest with a familiar skull emblem.
Someone who truly wants us to believe they're the Punisher.
The series leaves it open, positing either Frank Castle himself as having pulled the trigger or the corrupt NYPD officers who had idolized him committing the act.
