If you thought this timeline could not get any weirder, Katy Perry is off to space tomorrow, April 14, 2025. And no, it's not because her albums aren't flying off the shelves — she's aboard Blue Origin's NS-31 mission.

This flight is special because it will be the first all-female crew to travel to space since Valentina Tereshkova's solo mission way back in 1963.

The launch will take place at Blue Origin's facility in West Texas.

The entire journey will last approximately 11 minutes and will carry the crew beyond the Kármán Line. It is 62 miles (or 100 kilometers) above the Earth — this is where space technically starts.

They'll be flying Blue Origin's reusable New Shepard rocket and capsule, named after Alan Shepard, the first American astronaut to travel to space.

Some people say they have a bad feeling about the whole thing, whereas others joke about even Katy Perry traveling into space not gaining too much buzz.

They tease her songs by saying that she's off into space since the songs no longer sell that much. Other people jokingly say perhaps she's just sick of it all and fleeing the Earth.

Some people can't help but joke that she's going to sing Firework to aliens.

Although everyone really does hope she has a good trip and gets home safely, the internet is still awash with humorous comments and memes that people just can't resist posting.

Katy Perry is heading to space — social media responds with jokes and memes

They are joking that it is somewhat crazy how a pop star flying to outer space is receiving barely any recognition.

Some even took the spotlight away from Katy Perry by stating that when everybody flies to space, they should be playing NASA by Ariana Grande. They might have used one of Katy's own songs, but no.

A user @arianasbbl stated:

"the way that the fact that an artist is going to SPACE is making no noise."

Another user @arianatorswildt stated:

"when nasa by ariana grande starts playing as they get ready for take off omg."

A user @epiclad commented:

"That's awesome, hope she has a blast!"

Some users are saying they have a bad feeling about the entire situation. Others are asking, why is she even going in the first place? Netizens are actually joking that if they were in her shoes and received no response for it, they would just cancel the trip.

And, of course, even more people are laughing about how she's going to be singing Firework to aliens once she arrives.

One user mentioned:

"I have bad energy from this whole situation."

A user @BardisMedia mentioned:

"okay but why? and I would cancel so quick once I realized nobody gaf😭"

Another user, @TheArtfulMan1, jokingly asked:

"To sing “Firework” to the aliens?"

Others couldn't help but tease her recent album failures, cracking jokes that they're so terrible she's effectively being booted off the planet.

Meanwhile, some users are also getting a little morbid with their jokes, saying that when she returns from space, everybody should just pretend to be asleep.

A user @SheKnowsScience quipped:

"Katy Perry has officially taken “E.T.” to a whole new level. Next stop: The moon."

Another user @Roseponyclub said:

"album so bad they’re kicking her off the planet."

A user @willhunterr hilariously noted:

"When she gets back, let’s all pretend to be asleep."

While all this is happening, Katy Perry and the rest of the team aim to use this space mission to encourage the younger generation, particularly young girls, to dream big and consider pursuing careers in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM).
