SZA has done it again, sort of. The singer just dropped SOS Deluxe: LANA, an extended version of her 2022 album SOS, featuring four additional tracks. While some fans were thrilled for new(ish) music, others had one question: Sis, where’s the new album?
For months, fans have been hanging onto every snippet, leak, and cryptic post from SZA, hoping for a major new project. And while deluxe albums are nothing new in the music industry, the timing of this release has left fans with mixed feelings. They expected a full-length album or at least some unreleased tracks that would shake things up. Instead, they got a handful of songs they’d mostly heard before.
It’s been nearly two years since SOS took over the charts, and SZA stans have been eagerly waiting for fresh material. But instead of a brand-new project, she’s giving them a deluxe version months after teasing it. Naturally, the internet had thoughts.
SZA's SOS Deluxe: LANA Drop Sparks Hilarious Fan Reactions
Fans were quick to react, and the internet lit up with memes, jokes, and a few sighs of disappointment. While some appreciated the extra tracks, others weren’t impressed. After all, most of these songs have been floating around in leaks or live performances for a while.
One of the funniest (and most brutally honest) reactions came in the form of a simple plea: “GIRL JUST MAKE A NEW ALBUM AND FINISH YOUR CONTRACT.”
Another fan was hoping for a big surprise collab, saying, “No Ariana Grande? We lost.” A bit dramatic? Maybe. But hey, expectations were high.
Then there were those who were just confused, wondering what exactly they’d been waiting two months for. “Where’s the sample? We’ve heard all these songs before.”
Of course, not everyone was mad. Some took it as a sign that SZA simply isn’t done blessing her fans. “SZA really said she’s not done feeding us 😮💨🔥”
And finally, one user brought Travis Scott into the mix with a mysterious but hilarious comment: “Don’t end Travis like that.” (We’re not entirely sure what this means, but it sounds serious.)
At this point, SZA fans are used to waiting. They waited five years for SOS after Ctrl, and now they’re (im)patiently waiting for the next album. Whether SOS Deluxe: LANA is just a way to tide them over or a strategic move in her contract, one thing’s for sure: fans will always have something to say.
At the very least, though, they received some great memes from it. For some, this deluxe edition is a sweet morsel, reminding us that the artist is still there, somewhere, waiting. It's another appetizer for them, in the long chain of appetizers during this endless waiting. Whichever way it went, though, one thing for sure is that the conversation surrounding her music doesn't die out anytime soon. And let's be real: when the real new album actually drops, this same set of fans will be first in line, streaming it on repeat.
