Josie Totah and Karan Brar, former co-stars of Disney's show, Jessie, recently drove fans into a spree of viral tweeting after a video of them having a passionate kiss blew up. Totah however, was quick to clarify that it was all a joke, regardless of what the video appeared to depict. Totah said, "We're not dating," in an attempt to put out the fire before it could spread.

Unfortunately for her, the answer didn't exactly persuade her super adamant. In a tweet, a particularly doubtful fan encapsulated it perfectly:

“That passionate kiss was just a joke? Who’s she fooling lol.”

Josie's explanation has done little to reduce the suspicions, on the contrary, it is. Let's be real, further fueling them.

After a viral kiss, fans are convinced Josie Totah and Karan Brar are more than just friends

Totah and Brar might be sticking to their story, but social media has already spoken, and it is calling their bluff. Fans took to Twitter with a ton of super-funny reactions, ranging from disbelief (because, yes it is that deep) to outright amusement.

Expressing the frustration of those who felt betrayed by their favorite stars’ insistence that they were only joking, a user tweeted:

“They literally kissed… I hate her so bad,”

Another fan questioned the logic behind the explanation, posting:

“Who jokes with their co-workers like that?!”

It is a valid point as just sharing a full-on lip lock isn’t exactly what most people do in the break room for fun.

A third chimed in with:

“It’s a joke and yall kissing full lips?” complete with a GIF of a man looking shocked and confused, perfectly capturing the general sentiment on X, atleast.
"Friends kiss… move on," another user wrote.

For many, the idea that it was all just an innocent prank doesn’t quite hold water, especially for those who grew up watching Jessie. One particularly dramatic fan tweeted:

“Not accepting this negative energy, my inner Disney kid is still gaggingggg,” playfully referencing how deeply the news had shaken their childhood nostalgia.

Another user pointed out acknowledging the fact that both Totah and Brar have been honing their craft since they were kids:

“They are actors lol kinda trained to make it look real lol.”

Whether they are dating or not, one thing is clear—social media isn’t buying the whole “just a joke” angle.

"Is the friendzone a real place?," another user wrote.

Background behind the viral kiss: About the stars

If you missed the beginning of the rumor, it began when a video of Josie Totah and Karan Brar kissing passionately went viral. As soon as the video went viral, fans began to wonder if the two actors, who co-starred on Disney Channel's Jessie, had carried over their on-screen connection into real life.

Karan and Josie responded to the allegations quickly, with Josie stating that there was no romantic tie between the two and that it was all in good humor. But given their on-screen and off-screen relationship over the years, viewers haven't been able to get rid of the feeling that there could be more to the tale. Fans continue to analyze every exchange between the two in search of hints, despite the denials.

Celebrities sometimes playfully tease their fans with rehearsed scenes or practical jokes, but this specific instance appears to have resonated with Jessie fans, many of whom grew up watching the show's actors. Fans' emotional engagement makes it difficult to write off the widely shared kiss as a harmless jest, and it is obvious that rumors about the couple's connection aren't going away anytime soon.
