Jake Paul's next boxing opponent is said to be ex-WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. He is the son of boxing legend Julio Cesar Chavez Sr. But Jake Paul is now facing the heat because Chavez Jr. is 39, and many believe he's not in his prime anymore to fight.

According to The Ring, the battle is most likely to take place in the cruiserweight division, but there is no official date or venue as of April 2025.

Chavez Jr. has a record of 54 wins, 6 losses, and 1 draw, with 34 of his wins coming by knockout.

Nevertheless, he has not faced top-level competition in years. His most recent victory was in July 2024, when he defeated former UFC competitor Uriah Hall on the same card where Jake Paul competed.

Before that, Chavez Jr. lost to MMA legend Anderson Silva in 2021 — the same Anderson Silva that Jake Paul defeated in 2022.

Social media and boxing commentators have criticized Paul for choosing Chavez Jr. as an opponent. But since he already had a fight with Mike Tyson previously, it seems that he doesn't actually care about his opponents' age or whether they're in their prime or not.

Social media is having a field day with Paul. People are making fun of him, saying that he's just pursuing clout and choosing much older opponents so that he can easily win.

Social media reacts as Jake Paul is rumored to fight Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. this summer

People are making fun of Paul by claiming that he simply picked another elderly person to fight with. Other people noted that he decided to fight Chavez Jr. since he hadn't engaged in combat for around five years.

A user @lanto_trades roasted, saying,

"Another big name, old and beaten down fighter. Pushing 50, and hasnt fought in years. We good."

Another user @instentleader stated:

"What’s the real record for Jake Paul if we’re counting real fighters?(that aren’t retired)."

A user @1henryw went on to say:

"The former middleweight who has only fought once in the last 5 years and was once beaten by an ancient Anderson Silva?"

Some people believe the match will be staged, while others joke that he'll likely face Bernie Sanders next. He picks any older guy to fight with at this point.

A user @Cl6ne thinks:

"No reason why Chavez Jr should lose this fight, if he does then this shit definitely rigged."

Another user @johngclaudio said:

"I’m not watching any more fixed fights."

A user @JSPACE_J jokingly stated:

"Jake Paul is going to fight Bernie Sanders next."

One user made the amusing observation that this is similar to fighting their granddad. Then someone else asked why Jake never fights with people his own age.

A user @TriggerFinGr13 went on to say:

"Another old man lol that's used up pretty much and out of there prime."

One user, @Sanguisugadongg, hilariously noted:

"This is as exciting as me boxing my grandfather."

A user @suayrez asked:

"Why does Jake Paul never fight anyone his own age? 💀"

Paul, with a record of 11 wins and 1 loss (7 knockouts), just won a controversial bout against 58-year-old Mike Tyson in November 2024.

His sole loss to date was against Tommy Fury in 2023. There has not yet been a rematch, although Paul made a $4 million offer for it.
