A Minecraft Movie has become a box office sensation, raking in over $550 million globally in just 10 days and claiming the title of highest-grossing Hollywood film of 2025 so far. Based on the beloved video game, the film is well on track and could easily cross the $1 billion mark.

Fans have been going wild in theatres, and videos of crowds yelling, tossing popcorn, and even flinging chicken during iconic moments like the “chicken jockey” scene have gone viral. With theatres even issuing warnings to curb the chaos, and many fans still ignoring them, it seems one of the stars from the film recently stepped in to address the madness himself.

Actor Jack Black recently surprised fans with an unannounced appearance at a Los Angeles screening of A Minecraft Movie - and it wasn’t just to soak up the love. Amid loud cheers and screams from the crowd, the 55-year-old star took to the stage to make a special request:

"No throwing popcorn, and absolutely no chicken jockey! I am Steve."

His playful but firm reminder quickly went viral, with fans praising him for stepping in and trying to keep the cinema chaos in check.

Hilarious fan reactions

Fans were left thoroughly amused that it took an A-list celebrity like Jack Black himself to step in and restore order in theaters, and took to the internet to share their hilarious reactions.

"That’s peak Blockbuster energy," a fan pointed.

Whoever said going to the theatres wasn’t as eventful or celebratory as it used to be hasn’t witnessed the chaos during A Minecraft Movie. This fan certainly believes that theatres are back, and peak blockbuster energy is in full swing if audiences are going wild, screaming, and throwing popcorn like it’s a concert.

"Did it work? I really doubt it worked," wondered another.

Someone needs to post a video of the theatre after Jack Black made his popcorn PSA and left, just to see if the chaos calmed down or if the popcorn kept flying anyway.

Jack Black sure seems to have won the internet over with his move to keep cinema halls in check, prompting moviegoers everywhere to give him a salute - the Jack Black way!

"Lol must’ve got outta hand if even Jack Black asks you to chill," a fan wrote.

You know things have gotten out of hand when the guy known for rocking out and going wild like Jack Black himself tells you to calm down!

"The movie needed more evil in it so the audience became the main villain," joked another.

Perhaps the lack of a proper evil villain made the audience step up and take on the role themselves, as this fan jokes. Now that’s what you call contributing to a film without even being in it!

Jack Black stepping in to tell fans not to throw popcorn or make noise during screenings of A Minecraft Movie has certainly won the internet, with moviegoers and theatres alike hoping people follow through.

A Minecraft Movie is now aring in theatres near you.
