Invincible, an animated superhero series for adults crafted by Robert Kirkman for Amazon Prime Video, is creating a buzz with its third season. Inspired by the Image Comics series co-created by Kirkman, Cory Walker, and Ryan Ottley, Invincible is developed by Skybound Entertainment along with multiple other contributors.

The series revolves around Mark Grayson, a youth learning about his abilities with the help of his dad, Nolan Grayson, also known as Omni-Man—the strongest superhero on the planet. While Mark tries to juggle his personal life with his superhero responsibilities, he discovers a dark conspiracy that compels him to reevaluate everything. Blending intense action with profound emotional depth, Invincible has engaged viewers since it first premiered.

But Season 3’s big war scene, which was teased in a tweet, was met with a less-than-enthusiastic response.

One fan's comment,

"This looks awful, look at them they all look like a PNG," became the poster child for the criticism surrounding the animation.

The criticism didn’t just stop at the flat-looking characters. Fans couldn’t resist poking fun at the comic-book-strip-like graphics, which many felt lacked the depth and polish expected in modern animation. As the big showdown approaches, it's clear that the fanbase has found plenty to joke about, even amid the chaos.

Memes explode as Invincible Season 3’s animation leaves viewers laughing

The reactions to Invincible Season 3's war scene have been nothing short of hilarious. Fans took to social media to air their thoughts, with tweets ranging from critiques of the animation to outright amusement. One user sarcastically tweeted,

"Marvel really influenced multiverses," referencing the show's dive into multiverse storylines that some feel have become a bit overdone, thanks to Marvel's heavy involvement in that territory.

Of course, the release strategy hasn’t helped either. (Which is far from abundant in nature)

“All 2 episodes 🙄🙄,” one fan tweeted, clearly unimpressed with the small trickle of content.

The delayed gratification became a meme of its own, with a GIF featuring a man screaming,

“He can’t keep getting away with this!” in response to the tweet, “Making me wait another god damn week.” It’s safe to say the wait between episodes has fans feeling a little… impatient.

Others have pointed out that the characters in the war scene seemed to lack the presence they once had.

“They lost their aura 💔,” said one user, mourning the perceived downgrade in visual impact.

On a lighter note, fans are also joking about who might not survive the battle. One tweet joked,

“One of these guys is gonna get shitcanned by the reanimen and I think that's hilarious,” pointing out the show’s notoriously high body count.

Some fans have resigned themselves to watching their favorite characters get beaten down (again).

“Guess who’s getting their a*s kicked for the millionth time,” one viewer tweeted, referring to the endless beatdowns Invincible himself seems to face.

But there’s still plenty of excitement in the air, with one optimistic fan sharing,

“This is Gonna bee Awesome.”

What’s all the fuss about?

For those who don't know, Robert Kirkman's comic book served as the inspiration for the animated series Invincible. The program, well-known for its harsh, realistic interpretation of the superhero genre, captivated viewers with its dramatic plot twists and violent action sequences. With the highly anticipated war scene, Season 3 promises more of the same.

The problem? This time, viewers aren’t quite convinced by the show’s visual presentation. Although the images are reminiscent of comic book panels, many have noted that they don’t have the polished, professional appearance they were hoping for. Some fans have expressed a desire for more dynamic visuals due to the flat character designs and animation style. While the comic-like aesthetic is deliberate and faithful to the original work, it seems that not everyone finds it appealing.

Still, the fandom remains divided. While some are criticizing the animation quality, others are just excited to see their favorite characters in action again. As the war scene looms closer, the combination of anticipation and memes has only fueled the hype surrounding the show’s next big moment.
