Popular streamer Felix "xQc" Lengyel has come forward to justify the rumored pricing of the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto 6. Rockstar Games is speculated to throw a jaw-dropping $100 price tag on the upcoming game. Three digits. No decimals.
While it is easy to be unconcerned regarding the cost of a game if one's pocket money is six figures, for the average player, a $100 game is a cost factor that will make them sacrifice entertainment for... groceries.
Sharing a meme, xQc argues that the same gamers whining about GTA 6 prices are the same ones spending absurd sums on early access flops and digital Gucci swag for their characters.
"Gamers will buy 5 early access, half baked $140 games and sprinkle $300 worth of skins in a year, but when a AAA company goes all out and take their time to make the most anticipated polished product we know they can make, suddenly $100 is too much? Stop talking."
Users' reaction to xQc's defense of GTA 6 price tag
Most players are not on board with the idea of forking over a crisp Benjamin Franklin for one game. Some players are also worried about the precedent that it would set. If Rockstar gets away with this without there being a riot in the streets, other developers will certainly take note.
A user (@TZchamp) stated:
"First off, no one cares about a millionaire’s opinions on if something is expensive or not because they can’t relate. Secondly, those games that sprinkle $300 worth of skins in a year are usually FREE TO PLAY. Skins are also an optional purchase and not required."
As per this user, xQc said "just stop being poor" in a longer sentence.
A user (@0255_AM) humorously labeled it as:
"GTA 6: Human Resources."
In addition to the $100 price tag, we assume the game’s about to come with a job application.
A user (@rsMorex) went on to say:
"I had to go light on food this month just to buy monster hunter wilds for 60 bucks but this *** makes 10 times that eating a bowl of cereal silently while watching youtube."
The user is playing both Monster Hunter and Hunger Games at the same time.
A user (@nerds4nerds) quipped:
"I'm pretty sure most gamers don't want their hobby to become unaffordable."
A user (@ShinobiDancer) roasted, saying:
"If you had geniuses maxing out their parents’ credit cards to donate to your Twitch streams, you’d have this mindset too."
Bro thinks money is fake because his fans throw thousands at him for reacting to YouTube videos.
Another user (@EruditeMidnight) echoed the same sentiments, mentioning:
"Imagine shilling for a gaming company to charge more..."
Rockstar really got people out here fighting for the right to pay more.
One conspiracy theorist (@DaelyDriver) alleged:
"**xQc was *paid* to defend GTA 6's rumored price of $100 amid its criticisms. Fixed it for you."
Interesting! Wouldn’t be the first time a streamer got "mysteriously" passionate about a company.
Meanwhile, a user (@WomanDefiner), highlighted:
"I watched him lose 2 million dollars on election night. I'll pass on taking anything this guy says seriously."
He could fund thousands of people’s GTA 6 purchases with the money he lost that night, but sure, tell us how $100 is reasonable.
A user (@JamesAteUrFavs) sarcastically noted:
"a rich man defends a rich company… shocking"
If money wasn’t real, we wouldn’t care either.
