Euphoria is regarded as more than a TV series among younger audiences. It highlighted the complexities of chronic addiction, romantic and platonic equations, and familial relationships in two seasons. Amid the struggles of a bunch of high schoolers, Cassie dealt with identity issues. She tried to be someone she was not for validation.
So, for the ones who haven't watched Euphoria Season 2, let me break it down. Cassie (played by Sydney Sweeney) fell in love with Nate Jacobs (played by Jacob Elordi). Here's the twist, Jacob was Maddy's (played by Alexa Demie) ex and Maddy was Cassie's BFF. Her obsession with Nate peaked when she tried to be Maddy to win him.
Fans trolled the character for breaking the 'girl code' and flooded X with hilarious remarks.
Fans hilariously roast Cassie for copying Maddy in Euphoria S2
Given up after the first morning (via BuffbrinaCar/X)
Cassie was consistent enough to run a makeover routine every morning for Nate's attention! Many of us would give up after the first morning, let alone the third. If only Rue (played by Zendaya) had the same conviction to give up drugs!
Still losing (via uwuimatofu/X)
The first copies are nothing compared to the original. We understand that Cassie was looking for love in the wrong place, but copying your best friend to steal her man isn't justified, right? And all for nothing!
Waking up at 4 AM (via angelikecyrus/X)
When was the last time you woke up at 4? Maybe when you had to set off for an early morning flight. Waking up that early to groom yourself to impress someone is wild. She needs to drop a tutorial video!
All that for Nate (via lhc1507/X)
If we even consider that she was seeking her crush's attention, there is no excuse for looking that good for Nate Jacobs. He is often regarded as one of the most self-centered characters in Euphoria, so not worth the effort!
This was embarrassing (via giannastep818/X)
The conduct was not very 'girls' girl' of Cassie. Fans underwent second-hand embarrassment to watch Cassie invest so much in Nate and get nothing in return. Or maybe it was Karma?
Villain origin story (via AnyaLacey03/X)
Only Euphoria fans understand the transition of Cassie's character after being humiliated by Nate on multiple occasions. The sweet, gullible woman switched to a terrific Amy Dunne mode demanding fair treatment from Nate.
Amid the trolls and criticism, let's admit that both, Cassie and Maddy deserved better than Nate Jacobs. Cassie's inferiority complex and desperation to feel loved took over her morals. On the other hand, Maddy's toxic attachment to Nate took a toll on her personal growth. Nonetheless, kudos to the young actors for making the characters look like a part of reality.
