HBO just dropped a bombshell ‘Euphoria’ Season 3 is officially in production. After what feels like an eternity of speculation, the show that defined a generation (or at least their makeup routines) is making a comeback. But instead of a collective cheer, the internet did what it does best: roasted the hell out of it.
From jokes about the cast aging faster than their characters to doubts about whether we even need another season, the reaction to the announcement is peak Twitter. And honestly? They have a point.
Why the ‘Euphoria’ Season 3 Announcement Went Viral
It only took two words - "Now in production" for social media to go overdrive. Fans have been waiting so long that some probably assumed Rue had either graduated or, well... let’s not go there. But instead of sheer excitement, the post sparked an avalanche of skepticism and memes.
The biggest reason? The time gap. ‘Euphoria’ last aired in early 2022, and with Season 3 still in production, it's looking like a 2025 release at the earliest. That means our beloved high schoolers might be pushing 30 by the time they’re still dealing with AP classes and life-altering trauma. At this point, they might as well start a PTA group.
If there’s one thing ‘Euphoria’ fans do well, it’s meme their frustrations. The post was flooded with reactions that ranged from exhausted sighs to full-blown stand-up routines.
One user quipped, “Damn that was quick,” a sarcastic nod to the absurdly long wait.
Another pointed out the obvious,
“High school kids gonna be looking 35 by the time this sh*t comes out.”
Hard to argue with that.
And then came the Rue discourse. Will Zendaya’s character finally be clean? Will she still be spiraling? One fan bluntly asked, “Question of the day: Will Rue be fully recovered or will she be just as addicted to drugs as she always has been?”
Someone else followed up with, “Still an addict?” because subtlety is overrated.
Of course, some just wanted the show to end.
“Sh*t, we were so close to being rid of it”
one comment read, probably echoing the thoughts of anyone who’s ever had to explain the plot of ‘Euphoria’ to a confused parent.
Love it or hate it, 'Euphoria' still is a cultural phenomenon. Yes, the wait has been insane, but yet, it still is one of the most visual and talked about television shows.
Whether Season 3 will live up to the hype (or if we’ll still be debating Rue’s sobriety in 2026) remains to be seen. But one thing is clear - the internet will have plenty to say about it, and honestly, that might be more entertaining than the show itself.
