Fans are a tad obsessed with Netflix's upcoming murder mystery series, The Residence, as the teaser just released. This is especially true following an unexpected cameo. Referencing the show's description of 132 rooms, 157 suspects, and one dead body, the viral multiplayer game Among Us, which is well-known for its "sus" gameplay, comically responded to the trailer's premise on Twitter with the comment,

"I'm sure I can figure this out, let me in."

The merger of whodunnit worlds instantly caused the internet to erupt in laughter and hit tweets, and The Residence gave everyone serious Clue vibes, leaving us all pumped.

The internet reacts to The Residence trailer, with Among Us leading the charge in this murder mystery frenzy

The teaser for The Residence, which hinted at a murder mystery set in the White House with upstairs, downstairs, and backstairs, sparked a quick response of excitement and laughs on the internet. Fans used smart and clever methods (wordplay, because this is Twitter) to show their excitement for Shondaland's newest show.

One user tweeted,

“It took 13 seconds for Uzo to appear, which means it took me 13 seconds to decide I was all in," referring to Uzo Aduba's immediate appearance in the trailer.

Another tweet captured the cheeky absurdity of the premise, which felt a little too close to reality:

“A murder mystery in the White House? Bold of them to market it as fiction,”.

Another user jokingly pointed out the Among Us (unnecessary) choice of solving a case with so many detectives, tweeting,

“That’s a lot of people to be trying to find 1 suspect,” alongside a gif of a man saying, "You did it!".

The internet wasn’t shy about throwing out possible plot twists either.

“The president is the killer,” one user speculated, clearly having fun with the mystery aspect of the show.

And, of course, the Shonda Rhimes fandom was front and center with one fan exclaiming,

“All I had to see was Shondaland. I’m seated,” expressing their faith in the powerhouse behind The Residence.

In terms of expectations, one fan set the bar high, tweeting,

“This better serve Glass Onion’s nachos 😍,” comparing The Residence to another popular murder mystery.

Another hilariously quipped,

“Clue… but make it House of Cards,” imagining the political twist the show will add to the classic whodunnit formula.

The Residence: Shondaland's latest mystery hits Netflix

The launch of Shondaland's The Residence is scheduled for March 2025. The show, which is based on the book by Kate Andersen Brower, explores a strange murder that takes place in the White House's maze-like corridors. The program promises to be a gripping mix of drama, mystery, and typical Shondaland twists, with its expansive 132-room setting and more than 150 suspects.

Combining suspense with political drama is nothing new to Shonda Rhimes, the creator of popular shows like Scandal and How to Get Away with Murder. Already, fans are eager to see how this show stacks up against her other creations. The ensemble of the program is creating excitement, and viewers are excited for what seems to be a suspenseful, exciting murder investigation as Uzo Aduba returns to another Shondaland endeavor.

Critics' initial responses are positive, complimenting the trailer's combination of tension and dark humor. A large audience is anticipated as a result of the show's distinctive setting and Shondaland's well-known theatrical flair.
