A BTS excerpt from the Von Dutch music video has gone viral for all the right reasons with Charli XCX being her unapologetic self. In the clip, Charli lets a mopping machine drag her literally.

On February 29, 2024, Charli XCX dropped Von Dutch, the lead single from her sixth studio album, Brat. The song blends bold synths with bratty, in-your-face lyrics.

Charli’s antics in the video have lit up social platforms, inspiring a flood of playful comments and jokes. One X user nailed the vibe, tweeting:

“A new meaning to ‘I’m gonna mop the floor with ya."
A user humorously mentioned: "Gracie abrams holding on to Taylor for any relevance at all"
Another user said: "How I hold on to my man while he is leaving."

A user posted a GIF of Meryl Streep from The Devil Wears Prada that read: "That's all".

A comment read: "She’s cleaning the path taylor is about to walk down."
Another comment read: "Her simulating Taylor dragging her down the charts is taking me out what a humble queen."
A user humorously stated: "It’s hard to see other people living your dreams."
"Me entering the new year", a user said.

Charli XCX's Von Dutch

Directed by Torso, it shows Charli navigating the chaos of Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris. Think paparazzi chases, dramatic airplane wing climbs, and falling into a baggage cart. The whole aesthetic highlights fame is a circus, and Charli’s the ringleader.

The song doesn’t just bop; it pays homage to the iconic fashion brand Von Dutch, that early 2000s staple your inner Lizzie McGuire fangirl can’t help but stan.

From bedazzled trucker hats to dangerously low-rise jeans, Charli taps into the nostalgia of Y2K culture but adds her own twist.

The opening line is brat-pop perfection:

“It’s okay to just admit that you’re jealous of me.”

Charli’s not pulling any punches. She’s out here saying, I know you’re obsessed, boo. Just own it.

Brat: The album

When Brat dropped on June 7, 2024, it debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard charts. The album is a technicolor explosion of dance-pop, celebrating nightlife, femininity, and a cheeky nod to the Y2K aesthetic.

Tracks like Club Classics and B2B got people dancing like nobody is capturing the moment.

However, the star of the event was the album cover. Lime green background, low-res Arial font, and one single word: brat.

It created a whole mood, fans even went on to call summer 2024 “brat summer”.

Charli even dropped a remix album on October 11, 2024, with a title as extra as her: brat and it’s completely different but also still brat.

Charli XCX has further backed up her versatility by enlisting Troye Sivan and Addison Rae on the Von Dutch remix.
