What do you get when you combine LEGO with Mario Kart? A whole lot of fun! And guess what? You can actually get a piece of that fun for yourself because LEGO is about to release a brand-new set based on the beloved racing game that’s been around for over 30 years.

The LEGO Super Mario: Mario Kart set was officially revealed recently, with a confirmed price of $169.99 and a release date of May 15 this year. The announcement has fans excited, as they can't wait to get their hands on a piece of the iconic racing franchise!

Hilarious Fan Reactions

The reveal of the new LEGO Super Mario: Mario Kart set definitely left fans excited, but many were also quick to poke fun at its price, and the idea of grown fans eagerly wanting to own a LEGO set in the first place!

"How big is it?" a fan asked.

Well, at a price point of $169.99, this fan hopes that the LEGO Mario Kart better be big, and not a tiny toy that fits inside a pocket. What if it's so big you could actually sit behind Super Mario and take it for a spin?!

"Is hope this not another child-level set," wondered another.

Dear LEGO, please don’t make the LEGO Mario Kart a kid-friendly set, make it so complex that no child would want to own it. That way, adults can buy it without embarrassment!

This user is clearly not impressed with the LEGO Mario Kart and shows us exactly what it should look like, or at least what LEGO once used to be. Maybe LEGO should consider releasing an entire Mario Kart race track with all the characters!

"For $169.99, does it at least come with an insurance policy for when i inevitably step on it?" a fan joked.

Let's hope the LEGO Mario Kart comes with an insurance policy because nothing would be worse than stepping on a $169.99 LEGO and feeling like your world just ended!

"That price for some plastic pieces is INSANE," wrote another.

Talk about belittling a popular collectible item by calling LEGO an expensive piece of plastic! Guess it's not for everyone.

The 1,972-piece LEGO Super Mario: Mario Kart set has definitely left fans wanting it for themselves. The item is available for preorder now for $169.99 and ships on May 15, 2025.
