Only Logan Paul could turn a trademark dispute into a potential boxing match with Lionel Messi. It all began when Messi's brand, Mas+, sued Prime Hydration for trademark infringement. Instead of sticking to legal battles, Paul challenged Messi to a fight!

Turns out, Logan Paul wasn’t planning on throwing hands with Lionel Messi after all—he was just tossing off jokes for clicks. Scandalous, right? The wrestler fessed up that the fight challenge was a publicity stunt, once more demonstrating that when life hands him lawsuits, he makes headlines out of them.

So while Messi can sleep soundly knowing he won't have to trade cleats for boxing gloves, the actual battle - over sports drinks, not punches - continues. He said:

"Bro, people think I really wanna fight Messi because I made that video. Everyone’s like, ‘Of course you want to fight someone retired and smaller than you.’ It was a f**king joke. I’m not fighting Messi guys, it was a joke for attention. For f**king attention bro."

As soon as the news came out, someone took to their X account and commented:

"He also sounded like a little toddler when he told Tyson he’d “f****n kill him"

By the time Logan confessed the whole thing had been a prank, the web had already imagined Messi weaving around punches with the same agility he weaves around defenders.

The world was primed for the ultimate crossover—football’s best vs. YouTube’s most vocal. But nope, no fight, no gloves, just Logan being Logan: keeping everyone in mouth-watering anticipation. At this rate, don’t be surprised if his next trick is challenging a dolphin to a swim race.

With Logan Paul withdrawing from his Messi fight challenge quicker than a defender attempting to catch him on the field, the internet had no option but to do what it does best—jest.

From envisioning Messi dodging punches like defenders to speculating what Logan’s next publicity stunt will be, social media has made this non-fight pure comedy gold. If Logan sought attention, he certainly received it—although perhaps not of the kind he intended.

Netizens have reacted to Logan Paul after he clarified the fight with Messi was not serious

Logan Paul pulling out of the fight was faster than a child hiding poor grades from their parents. One day, he's challenging Messi, the next he's playing dumb and saying it was all a joke—his next opponent could very well be his own straight-face skills:

"Haha Of course typical Logan Paul thing to say he will Fight Messi," a user joked.
"I’m not fighting Messi guys, it was a joke for attention” he scared," a ccording to a user.
"Joke for attention should be this dudes middle name," a netizen hilariously commented.

Logan Paul stepping out of it had everyone wondering if the fight challenge didn’t last longer than his attention span. If being a big talker and then backing out was an Olympic sport, he’d already have a gold medal:

"“Joke for attention” = his whole career", a user wrote.
"Messi doesn’t need the money, why would he ever step in the boxing ring," a netizen commented.
"Bro would turn Messi to butter," according to a netizen.

And then there’s the peanut gallery, contentedly stirring the pot with no investment in the game. They don’t give a hoot if Logan battles Messi or a shadow of himself—they’re just here for the mayhem, the memes, and the next stunt that’ll have everyone buzzing all over again:

"I mean it would’ve been interesting to watch," according to a user.
"he doesn’t even need to make jokes, he IS the joke," a user hilariously commented.

At this point, Logan Paul versus Messi was just another installment of "Things That Will Never Happen." No gloves, no punches—just a sharp U-turn and a whole lot of internet mayhem. But knowing Logan, it’s only a matter of time before he’s making another challenge. Maybe Bigfoot?
