Fortnite is adding a strange new cosmetic called Toe Kicks. The item has an oversized toe protruding from a blue shoe. The addition was teased by prolific Fortnite leaker HYPEX and should be making its way into the in-game store any day now.
Fortnite first conceived of the Kicks idea back in November 2024 when it allowed gamers to dress up the shoes of their characters with various patterns, branded Nike sneakers, and novelty designs such as Chomp Stomp slippers.
The new Toe Kicks continue the same trend.
One look at these sneakers, and you could already gauge how the internet reacted—absolute chaos.
The strange and bizarre look has people making fun of these being flat-out cursed. A few have even come out and said that they'd block anyone they see wearing them in-game.
Others are faking to pour water in their eyes to blind themselves, expecting they had a superpower in real life to wipe out the image from their minds.
While the shoes are definitely eye-catching, they're also... eye-irritating.
The structure, for whatever reason, looks like all your toes have combined into one giant toe. It's funny, but it's also creepy.
It's as strange as it is humorous and has that creepy "bugs under the skin" feel that makes you uncomfortable just to look at it.
Social media reacts to Fortnite's Toe kicks
People on social media just can't stop talking about it—all for the wrong reasons. For all, they've called it "cursed," while others are (dramatically) claiming they might throw up just from looking at it.
A few are simply speechless, struggling to know how to react.
A user @BigFootYeti69 straight up noted:
"Those are cursed."
Another user shared a really, really unsettling reference, stating:
"Life imitates art."
One user, @StallionStreams, probably in disbelief, mentioned:
"I have no words."
A user @itsarkheops quipped:
"Nah that’s f*****g disgusting bro get this off my screen and out of my game I will uninstall 😭"
Some fans can't believe Epic Games is really going to charge for these, while others are so shocked they can only muster up responses in the form of memes that absolutely express their shock.
A user @vvortexe commented:
"No way they’re charging us for ts."
One user went on to react with a hilariously relatable GIF:
A bunch of users have resorted to sarcastic commentary, joking that they would block anyone who wears these.
Others confess that, as ridiculous as these kicks look, they may actually go out and purchase them anyway. Some have even drawn laughs by saying that people used to fantasize about 2025 being the time of flying cars—but what they ended up getting were strange Fortnite shoes.
A user @alxvslvr went on to say:
"if anyone wears these near me they’re getting blocked."
Another user @TwistyChase added:
"If I see you wearing these in game it’s on sight."
One more user, @khy_bear, humorously suggested:
"um... i can't... but you know i will buy them.. LOL."
A user @bumlicker96 made a hilarious comparison, saying:
"in 2002 they said by 2025 we will have flying cars but nope we got fortnite toe shoes."
The shoes haven't even dropped in Fortnite yet, but the internet is already abuzz with discussion about them. Now, the real question is—what will happen when they finally make their debut?
