May is going to be a big month for Warner Bros Discovery's Max streaming platform. According to Bloomberg, WBD may be working on another evolution - this time, however, they're not touching the name.
Warner Bros. Discovery is revising Max again, this time replacing its blue logo with a clean black-and-white re-design. The title remains where it is - no identity changes there, though - but the color change seems to be part of an overall branding refresh. However, it is not confirmed yet!
As soon as the news came out, fans reacted in humorous ways. An X user (@szaseiji) took to his X account and commented:
"Fix the app before playing dress-up."
The moment the news broke, the internet did what it does best - descended into madness. Fans were arguing about how vital a change in the logo was, others asking for actual app betterments, and some just sitting back waiting for Warner Bros. Discovery to put out yet another name change.
Netizens have reacted as Max reportedly rebrands to black & white
The comment section is officially a comedy club. People are cracking jokes about the app getting a makeover while still struggling to function:
"It seems like they re-brand this app every few months…," one user commented.
"Wait until they just call it HBO again., another user commented.
"Next they'll call it Ax. Then A," a netizen joked.
"Maybe they can fix the app instead - easily the worst of all major streaming apps," a folk commented.
Then there's the peanut gallery - the ones who have no stake in the debate but are here for pure entertainment. They're the ones dropping sarcastic "groundbreaking change" comments. They're not mad, they're not invested - they just love watching the Internet lose its mind over a logo:
"I like the new one better and I’m on there everyday watching something like Harley Quinn or the wire lately :)," someone commented.
"This probably costed 1m $ to make," a user wrote.
"They should rename it again. It’s been a few months.," a netizen joked.
And, of course, some online comedians live for this kind of moment. There are even people convinced that if this trend keeps going, the platform will condense to just "Min" in a few years:
"How about bringing back the HBO part? Ya know, the part that everyone actually recognizes," a user sarcastically commented.
"This is the equivalent of trying a new hairstyle to "rebrand" but staying the same person inside," a netizen joked.
"Damn HBO is never happy with their logo. HBO, HBOgo, HBOnow, HBO max, Max," a user hilariously commented.
In the end, whether folks adore, despise, or couldn't care less about Max's new look, one thing is for sure - social media went wild over it.
