Final Destination: Bloodlines released a new poster announcing its R rating for "strong violent/grisly accidents and language." That's more nightmare-causing, paranoia-inducing death traps hitting the big screen on May 16, 2025.

It's the sixth film in the Final Destination series and the first in 14 years.

Social media is filled with laugh-out-loud nostalgia-induced panic. Some fans are joking that they knew this was going to be rated R—because these films psychologically traumatized a whole generation.

Others are bringing back old memes, reminding everyone why they still won't drive behind log trucks, stand next to escalators, or get tanning beds.

One user (@silhoue_tte42) mentioned:

"Wouldn’t be Final Destination without an R rating. Time to overthink every random accident in life all over again."

Congrats, you just unlocked ‘paranoia mode’ for the next 10 years.

A user (@BodogCasino_) joked:

"Is the last destination movie going to be named “THE FINAL DESTINATION” or is that too corny?"

Nah, they’re saving ‘Finaler Destination’ for the real last one.

Another user (@debayo_xx) reminded:

"Ppl who watch this and go “that wouldn’t happen irl” r the first ones to go."

A user (@AllTypaShii) stated:

"Strong violent and grisly accidents? Yeah we know bro we know 😭😭"

A user reacted with a fun GIF:

Stating the obvious, a user (@BlairZCN) humorously said:

"Water is wet."

Next you’re gonna tell us the grass is green and the log truck is a death sentence.

A user (@goonerrr_) commented:

"A new "Final Destination" movie? That’s insane! Because of this franchise, I’ve always been terrified to drive behind a truck carrying logs—feels like at any moment, one could come loose and give me a creative death straight out of the series."

The log truck fear is stronger than any phobia recognized by science.

A user (@goji_mecha) highlighted:

"Wow, no shock. It’s as if the previous movie weren’t also Rated R."

About Final Destination: Bloodlines

Final Destination: Bloodlines is written and directed by Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein, with a screenplay from Guy Busick and Lori Evans Taylor based on a story adapted by them and Jon Watts.

The movie features Kaitlyn Santa Juana, Teo Briones, Richard Harmon, Owen Patrick Joyner, Rya Kihlstedt, Anna Lore, Brec Bassinger, and the late Tony Todd, reprising his character of William Bludworth.

Even though Tony Todd passed away in November 2024, he had finished filming all his scenes for the film.

The making of Final Destination: Bloodlines was delayed with the SAG-AFTRA strike in mid-2023. However, the production resumed in Vancouver from March 4 to May 13, 2024, with Christian Sebaldt as cinematographer.

The music score for the film is provided by Tim Wynn.

Plot and R rating

The movie tracks Stefanie (Kaitlyn Santa Juana), a college student who is tormented by a continuous violent nightmare predicting the death of her family.

She returns home to be with the sole individual who may be able to end the vicious cycle and redeem her family from the ghastly death they are headed toward.

This plot thread has been a standard in the franchise, as it follows the traditional theme of the characters trying to cheat death after seeing visions of their own death.

The R rating on Final Destination: Bloodlines can be traced back to "strong violent/grisly accidents, and language".

Final Destination: Bloodlines has a runtime of 109 minutes and 40 seconds, the longest series so far.

Scheduled to hit theaters on May 16, 2025, the film is set to be screened in standard and IMAX versions.
