Fans roast DC as State Farm’s Batman ad gets more hype than the actual films: "DC continues to be an absolute joke"

State Farm just dropped a new commercial, and it’s a Gotham-level epic. Instead of your usual boring insurance ad, they went all in on Batman, featuring a lineup of stars like Jason Bateman, SZA, Kai Cenat, and Jordan Howlett.

The ad is getting tons of love for how well it captures Gotham’s gritty aesthetic—so much so that people are joking it looks better than some recent DC movies.

Of course, just because the commercial is a hit doesn’t mean DC gets to escape the memes. The internet wasted no time roasting Warner Bros., wondering if they should just let State Farm handle the next Batman movie.

State Farm's Gotham City commercial

The ad is based on the theme of "Batman vs. Bateman," in which Jason Bateman portrays a character named Bateman, who is an inferior rendition of the Dark Knight.

The premise is clever to draw attention to the difference between obtaining something as good as the original and actually getting the original itself—similar to choosing State Farm over other companies.

The commercial features SZA as Catwoman, Jordan Howlett as Commissioner Gordon, and Kai Cenat as the hostage of Gotham City.

The performer who will play the character of Batman hasn't been announced yet, but rumors tell us that he can be performed by Will Arnett, the one who built a career playing LEGO Batman.

The commercial also features a range of DC villains, like the Joker, Two-Face, and Poison Ivy, all presented in a visually aesthetic manner.

The commercial was produced in collaboration with Highdive and supported by a group of other agencies, including FleishmanHillard and Warner Bros. Discovery.

This campaign will attempt to appeal to a mass audience with social media influencers as well as traditional celebrities, something that State Farm believes will differentiate them in the March Madness season when there are so many brands fighting for attention in sports-related commercials.
