Tim Allen has confirmed he's back in the booth for Toy Story 5, and Buzz is reuniting with Woody for one wild rip. Catch this one when it drops on June 19, 2026.

And in true Tim Allen style, he’s already spilling the tea about what’s going down behind the scenes. Let’s just say, it’s buzz-worthy. (Yes, pun intended, duh.) When news of the sequel hit, X had no chill.

Fans were quick with the memes, asking questions about how many more movies they were gonna squeeze out of these toys. Well, according to Tim Allen, this next chapter might just be the GOAT.

An X user said:

"Seriously how many of these movies do we need? What’s next Toy Story 6 Andy’s wedding?"
Another user said: "This series is never going to end."
Another user added: "I always felt like the 3rd one wrapped the story up so nicely. It’s felt like a cash grab ever since."
A user wrote: "Starting to become it's own fast and furious series."
A comment read: "No end in sight for the Toy Story franchise."
Another comment read: "Love everyone and everything related to toy story, but haven't we said goodbye TWICE already???"

“A really clever story”

Allen, the man who gave us Buzz's iconic "To infinity and beyond," shared in an interview with Collider that Toy Story 5 isn't all about raking in cash. He spilled:

"I don’t really believe it’s about the money. I’m sure they want it to be a success, but that’s not why they did it."

According to Allen, they only greenlit the project because the script was really good. He even said they wouldn't have brought him and Tom Hanks on board again unless it was legit.

Tim has just finished his first FIVE-HOUR recording session for the new movie. "Weird but fulfilling," he says, summing up what it was like stepping back into Buzz's moon boots after all these years.

“It took me about two hours to fully embody Buzz Lightyear again.”

He also added:

“I’m so blessed to be Buzz Lightyear, to be honest. It’s gonna be fun. I think we’re a year out. I’ve gotten up to the third act. We’ll do the third act. And then, we’ll go back and clean it. And then, I’ll do it about five more times. It’s a really good story, guys. It’s really good.”

What’s the tea on the plot?

While Tim didn't spill every last detail (boo!), we know this much: The gang's back to navigate life in a world obsessed with technology. Smart toys, AI dolls, and probably a robot vacuum with main character energy.

But for real, with Andrew Stanton-one of the OG Toy Story people returning to direct, you already know the storytelling is gonna slap.

A quick trip down memory lane

For the uninitiated— or the forgetful— comes a speed-run of why Toy Story is basically the Beyoncé of animated franchises.

  1. Toy Story (1995) — The origins. Woody and Buzz start out frenemies.
  2. Toy Story 2 (1999) — Woody gets kidnapped, and the squad pulls off a rescue mission like it's Mission: Impossible.
  3. Toy Story 3 (2010) — Andy goes to college, and my goodness, it got really emotional there for everybody with that scene in the furnace.
  4. Toy Story 4 (2019) — Woody finds his new purpose, Forky has stolen our hearts, and Pixar is stretching their muscles once more with their animation skills.

And let's not forget Lightyear (2022), the Buzz solo gig in which we finally got to see him flex as an actual space ranger.
