DC Universe unveiled its initial animation logo for the upcoming television show depicting the character called Starfire. The series from DC Universe will narrate how Starfire became famous using her birth name Princess Koriand'r of Tamaran.
The comic legend Marv Wolfman and George Pérez together created Starfire for her 1980 DC Comics debut thus establishing her vital role in Teen Titans comics.
Many are worried Starfire’s show will lean too comedic, comparing it to Teen Titans Go! or another Harley Quinn-style series.
One X user commented:
"I want something serious not that teen titans go mess."
Another user added:
"So let me get this straight we are getting a Starfire show before a Nightwing show before a red hood show BEFORE A BATMAN BEYOND MOVIE wtf"
One user speculated:
"This is gonna be their new Harley Quinn show 💀💀💀"
Fans are questioning why Starfire is getting a show before Nightwing, Red Hood, or even a Batman Beyond movie, with some calling the new DCU direction “aimless.”
A user asked:
"Wow that looks awful, are they they broke???"
A user provided a full-fledged roast stating:
"I'll admit I would rather they invest that money into a Teen Titans season 6. :'). I will also admit that this new DC universe of shows and movies is giving me the same aimlessness that the MCU has had since Endgame."
"I really don’t know what the hell dc is smoking lately by making this"
Background of Starfire
In the DC Universe, Starfire serves as the princess title of Tamaran where she rules the alien planet. The former queen of Tamaran lost her crown to her sister Blackfire before falling victim to slavery.
Together with surviving enslavement and experimental abuse, she acquired the abilities that would transform her into a superhero in the future.
The survivor broke free from captivity to come to Earth where she became an essential Teen Titan character while occasionally taking on the leadership role.
The animated superhero Starfire found life in the Teen Titans and Teen Titans Go! TV shows while Hynden Walch voiced her role.
Fans got to witness Starfire's leadership in addition to her combat expertise in her screen performances within Justice League vs. Teen Titans and Teen Titans: The Judas Contract.
The new animated series
The Starfire cartoon series is meant to be an origin story for the character, with a concentration on her journey from Tamaran to venturing into the cosmos.
The story begins when Starfire discovers an old spaceship on her home planet which she uses to start her journey into new undiscovered territories.
During her travels, Starfire meets Crush the daughter of Lobo, and Fern the plant-dwelling ally as well as Amethyst the Gemworld royal.
Altogether, they venture into the depths of the DC Universe, facing off against unusual challenges and adventures like rescuing space dolphins and surfing across technicolor nebulas.
The show is executive produced by Josie Campbell, and it has a co-executive producer in Brianne Droughard.
Though there has not been any word on whether or not the series will be set in the DC Universe or is an Elseworlds story, it has hinted at presenting the character and her universe from a new point of view.
