Marvel Studios has officially brought back Daredevil, and audiences were prepared to usher Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) and his friends back into their crime-fighting, courtroom-drama-ridden lives. But Born Again doesn't hesitate to put audiences in the middle of a whirlwind of emotions.
Deborah Ann Woll (Karen Page) and Elden Henson (Foggy Nelson) are back, connecting the Netflix and Disney+ eras—but things escalate more quickly than anticipated.
Now, in a conversation with Phase Hero, Marvel Studios' Brad Winderbaum teased that Foggy and Deborah will be back for Season 2.
Fans are completely reeling from you-know-what, clogging up social media with shock. Some are already wondering if it can be reversed via flashbacks or some good ol' multiverse wizardry—considering Marvel Studios appears more keen on alternate realities these days.
One X user stated:
"The math isn’t mathing tbh."
A user couldn't help but question,
"How if he’s…nvm."
"gotta flashback for one of them..."
Meanwhile, a user jokingly asked:
"Did we all watch the same first episode or?"
One user mentioned:
"So we just skipping Season 1 like it never happened?"
A user hilariously reacted with a confused GIF:

Episode 1: The death of Foggy Nelson— What actually happened?
The season begins with Matt, Karen, and Foggy having a moment of normalcy in Josie's Bar, laughing, joking, and being… normal.
Then Foggy goes out for a call on a concerned client, and he is suddenly set upon by Bullseye.
The attack is quick, brutal, and thoroughly calculated—to lure Daredevil out into the open.
Matt runs towards the gunfire. But when he gets there, it's too late.
His best friend is hemorrhaging on the sidewalk, his pulse weakening with each passing second.
Matt holds him, unable to prevent the inevitable. Karen stumbles onto the gruesome scene, hands soon red with Foggy's blood.
The episode concludes with Matt and Karen completely devastated.
Episode 2: How does Daredevil deal with Foggy's death?
The second episode handles the destruction that follows losing Foggy. Matt, overcome with guilt, wonders if he can even remain Daredevil.
After all, what is the use if he couldn't even safeguard the person who had been by his side since law school?
Karen, however, decides on revenge. Her journalistic instincts take over, and her focus is on Wilson Fisk (Vincent D'Onofrio).
With his extensive history of making Matt's life a living hell, she guesses he was involved in Foggy's murder.
But Fisk is a manipulator extraordinaire—was it him, or is there someone else behind the scenes?
And then there's Bullseye. Yes, he does have a history with Fisk, but the fact that their past run-ins indicate that there might be more to it than meets the eye.
Who really ordered the hit? That question looms large as Matt, by the episode’s end, makes his choice—Daredevil isn’t backing down.
He suits up once again, this time with a vengeance-fueled mission to hunt down those responsible for Foggy’s death.
Why did Marvel kill off Foggy Nelson? The real reason behind this shocking decision
Showrunner Dario Scardapane didn't come to this decision lightly. Killing Foggy wasn't about shock value—it was about shaking Daredevil to its foundations.
The Matt, Karen, and Foggy trio was the emotional core of the show. Without Foggy, Matt is more exposed than ever, balancing on the precipice of darkness.
Showrunner Dario Scardapane told RadioTimes:
"The first thing is, it wasn't taken lightly. The second thing, which a lot of people don't know, is that the first iteration of [the show], the one I came into, that event had occurred, but it occurred off camera."
Is Foggy Nelson actually dead? The comic book hints that say otherwise
In comic books, death is usually only temporary. So, of course, the fans are already formulating theories on whether Foggy's "death" is as definite as it appears.
One of the biggest clues is in Ed Brubaker's 2006 run on Daredevil, wherein Foggy's "death" was faked. The FBI arranged to fake it as part of a witness protection program.
Is Marvel Studios drawing inspiration from this plot? There is no concrete evidence—yet—but the Daredevil fanbase isn't ruling it out.
What's next for Daredevil: Born Again? Big theories and predictions
With Foggy out of the picture, Matt's dogged pursuit of Wilson Fisk is set to become even more vicious.
Karen could play an even bigger role, investigating deeper into conspiracies and putting herself in even greater danger to bring down those behind it.
The million-dollar question is: was this a Fisk plot, or is another mastermind controlling Bullseye?
Without Foggy, Matt may have to call in reinforcements from other street-level heroes such as Jessica Jones or Luke Cage.
If Marvel goes full comic book, there's always a possibility Foggy's "death" is all part of an even larger scheme.
