The much-anticipated Superman movie, directed by James Gunn, is scheduled to be released in theaters on July 11, 2025. As the anticipation builds, so do the rumors, which have turned the internet into a warzone of speculation and theories.

The rumor mill has thrown another bit of a hilarious whispered rumor at us that has left the internet in stitches: the first possible quote from Superman that we get as he lands in Metropolis will be "I'm Superman, B***HES!!"

Superman is as vanilla a superhero as they come, he's the beacon of hope for all humanity, the guy who couldn't hurt a fly even if he wanted to. He doesn’t have tragic flaws like Batman or uses humor as a coping mechanism like Spider-Man, and yet he stands out from the crowd. If the rumors do come true, it might redefine the way we view the Man of Steel.

Memes erupt as Superman's first possible quote comes out

The statement in itself is emphatic and self-explanatory - and could become the most quotable line in superhero cinema history. On any other superhero, the line might be wasted, but not on Superman. It would also be hilarious to watch on the big screen but would have major repercussions for the character thereafter.

This cheeky line has sent fans into a frenzy, not just because they’re excited about the Man of Steel’s return, but also because of the absurd potential this moment has to become a turning point for the DC Universe. Once the rumor dropped, the fans had a tough time believing the absurdity of the hypothetical situation:

"Depends...Is he rescuing a dog shelter?" wondered one fan (via X / @Bronzeclownshoe)
"First movie Written by Twitter for Twitter," joked another (via X / @AkkiZac019)
"Was that dialogue written by an 8-year-old?" quipped another fan (via X / @santhoshnaveen7)

At first, many dismissed the rumor as satire but as the hours passed, skepticism gave way to wild speculation with fans coming up with increasingly ridiculous takes on the rumored quote. They discredited the rumor and instead came up with their own suggestions:

"It is not true... the real one is: "I'm Gunn's superman, Ɓ***HES," jested one fan (via X / @Maurycrema)
"For The Brave and the Bold we will get "I'm the goddamned Batman," predicted another fan (via X / @RavenMoonSada)

Can you imagine DC fully embracing the absurd and then Batman has to join in the shenanigans too? No thank you, replacing 'I'm Batman' would be a crime in our opinion. Another fan (@EternityInGamin) suggested April Fool's Day had come early and quashed the rumors:

"Its not April Fools yet so idk whats going on"

While some welcomed the dramatic change of pace, others were in disbelief and mocked the idea that Superman would ever utter such a phrase. They cast doubt on the authenticity of the rumor and came up with absurd theories to support their claim. Some wondered if James Gunn was the gossip-monger himself, while others suggested that it was someone else who would be impersonating the Man Of Steel:

"Bizarro or Ultraman?" questioned one fan (via X / @TomV39409)

Or it could be Lex Luthor as well, who knows? If we are debating the absurd hypothetical scenarios, we wouldn't want to miss out on the most obvious of them all the bald-headed supervillain who is hell-bent on destroying Superman.

Or wait, it could also be the case that Clark Kent has still learned the ways of the Earth slang, maybe he ought to take a lesson or two from Flash!

Can you imagine Superman doing a full U-turn on his personality and dropping possibly the most gloriously unhinged statement of the DC Universe? James Gunn, the director of the movie, isn’t exactly known for playing it safe either, having given audiences his fair share of foul-mouthed characters like Rocket Raccoon and The Peacemaker.

We might just witness the birth of a new age in the DC era if the rumors come true. Now watch when the actual first line is something like 'Hope is never lost'!
