Fans joke—“This would’ve hyped me up years ago… now I’m just a sad panda” as Rocksteady plans a new Batman game

If you've been waiting for Rocksteady to return to Gotham, well… get comfortable. The word on the street is that the studio behind the legendary Arkham series is working on a new single-player Batman game. Sounds great, right? Well, it seems not many are throwing Batarangs out of excitement quite yet.

The game is still years away from release, and given Rocksteady's recent track record, *cough* Suicide Squad *cough*, fans are reacting with a mix of hype, skepticism, and the kind of emotional exhaustion usually reserved for people still waiting on GTA 6.

Rocksteady's Batman Game Announcement Goes Viral

It all started with a simple post by Discussing Film, confirming Rocksteady’s plans for a new Batman title. Given the developer’s history, you’d think this would be met with universal excitement. Instead, the internet did what it does best: overreacted in every way possible.

Some fans are ecstatic, some feel betrayed, while others simply wonder if this one will live up to the Arkham name. The post quickly went viral, with the announcement being the catalyst but more so because of the absolute goldmine of reactions that followed. The comments section was quickly turned into a mess of unfiltered emotion, brutal honesty, and meme-worthy moments.

As one user (@grok_art2x) put it, with regard to potential problems with the game:

"I think they should put Kanye on this game."

Not sure if they meant as a character, composer, or just general chaos agent, but it would definitely be… a choice.

Meanwhile, trust issues are running deep after Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. One fan (@MrAnt728) wrote,

“I lost all trust in Rocksteady,” summing up what many players feel after the studio’s latest release didn’t exactly land smoothly.

Of course, there were those ready to throw their wallets at the screen, with the classic “Shut up and take my money” reaction making its usual appearance (via X/@MatthijsRoozeb2).

That enthusiasm was met with a reality check from another fan (@thebabayaga975):

“Imma have kids by the time this comes out, but still nice to have a confirmation 🔥.”

A grim yet relatable take.

Not everyone is optimistic, though.

“Do they want to ruin Batman again?” asked one user.

While another (@debayo_xx) declared,

“If it won’t be at least better than the Arkham series, then they can trash it.”

No pressure, Rocksteady.

Then there’s the sheer impatience. “Years away 😂” pretty much sums up how fans like @fabXgow feel about waiting for another Batman game in an era where every big release gets delayed.

Another commenter (@vikefan1180) asked the existential question:

“Then why even announce it? Nobody is going to remember you announced a game 3 years ago just announce it when it’s almost ready!”

Fair point.

And finally, the most poetic reaction of them all via @HomieSanto:

“5 years ago this would get me excited AF, now though it makes me a sad panda 🐼.”

If that doesn’t sum up aging gamers in one sentence, nothing does.

So, where does that leave us? Rocksteady’s next Batman game is officially in development, but fan enthusiasm isn’t what it used to be. Maybe it’s because we’ve been burned before, maybe it’s the endless waiting, or maybe it’s just the general exhaustion of modern gaming announcements.

Either way, Gotham is calling again. Whether fans are ready to answer? Well, that’s another story.
