Eric Trump just dropped a meme bombshell that had social media buzzing. The meme featured a digital shopping cart on Amazon, not filled with usual air fryers or water bottles, but with Canada, Greenland, and the Panama Canal.
Eric Trump posted this satire (hope so) on X (formerly Twitter), featuring his dad, President-elect Donald Trump, looking like he was ready to hit Add to Cart on entire nations.
Accompanied by the caption, “We are so back!”, it’s not like Eric Trump was sitting around wondering, What if Dad bought a country on Amazon? No, Trump Sr. has dropped the idea of making Canada the “51st state”.
He reasons that the U.S. allegedly subsidizes Canada way too much, and he thinks a lot of Canadians secretly wouldn’t mind trading Tim Hortons for some good ol’ American tax cuts and military protection.
Then there’s Greenland. Trump’s obsession with buying it has been a running joke since his first term. He’s called it an “absolute necessity” for U.S. national security. Meanwhile, Denmark already responded with a firm hard pass back then.
The internet reacts
The meme lit up social media like a Christmas tree in October—equal parts too early and too extra. Some users were here for a laugh, others were not exactly sending laughing emojis.
A user commented on the post saying: "And it seems like everything is free! 😆"
A user asked: "If these items are in your cart, what does the algorithm suggest for your *next* purchase?"
A comment read: "Hey Elon, can I use your credit card, I'm getting something on Amazon.. LOL."
Meanwhile, a user said: "Can you Please Add Mexico to the cart as well since we give them 300 Billion a year."
A user commented: "Among the many things money can’t buy are class, and wisdom. Also Canada."
"Technically you ordered Canada back in 1812 and it still hasn’t been delivered. There’s a reason for that", a comment read.
A bit more context of the post
Trump, on December 18, 2024, casually logs onto his Truth Social account and claims that “many Canadians” are itching for Canada to become the 51st state of the United States.
According to him, Canadians would save cash on taxes and enjoy U.S. military protection. He’s even calling out an alleged financial imbalance, claiming the U.S. subsidizes Canada to the tune of over $100 million a year.
Trump is also doubling down on his Greenland dream from 2019, calling it a “large real estate deal” and an “absolute necessity” for national security. His reason is that the Arctic is heating up—both literally and geopolitically—and Russia’s flexing its muscles in the region.
Trump thinks owning Greenland is like unlocking a cheat code for global freedom and U.S. dominance.
Trump also floated the idea of reclaiming control over the Panama Canal. Yep, the same Panama Canal that’s been a global trade MVP forever. He’s spinning it as part of his strategy to secure vital assets that boost U.S. interests.
